Pros
flex schedule. will pay for series 66 and 7. everyone is treated fairly and equal opportunity for advancement in every branch.
Cons
you must get your own clients. this can be hard in the area near where you work because senior mangement probably took most convenient clients
Advice to Senior Management
try to make a higher salary based pay depending on how well the employees have been doing to advance in the company.
Pros
You largely get to choose your own hours, seeing as how you are employed by yourself. Get sponsorship for your licensing. . . good to have in finace.
Cons
It's an environment that is about selling. As in many "sales" positions you must sell and meet the numbers to be in good standing with management. Not a lot of opportunity for sophisticated financial planning
Advice to Senior Management
More attention to the advancement of employees within the organization. There were far too many times that I didn't feel like an individual important to the company, just a number to produce "numbers"
Pros
Great training program from the San Diego branch. This could be largely a function of the management at that particular location as I noticed that many other consultants from throughout the country were much less educated and savy when conversing with them at conventions and training functions. Good suite of products to offer.
Cons
The neccesity to sell a minimum amount of proprietary products in order to "validate", have your expenses covered, made it difficult to offer truly unbiased recommendations all the time. However, this is the case at most if not all large insurance/investment outfits.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on training and development but integrate more training on prospect generating and not just product and planning related.
Pros
AXA will pay you very well once you start under contract, which can take up to three months. You usually make 3% of all the money you bring in, depending on what you are selling. Company is very focused making your numbers. You can either choose a salary($24,000) plus 50% commissions or all commissions plus bonus. Some make over $500,000.
Cons
You do not get paid for the months before you sign your contract other than any commissions. I went three months before collecting any money. It is very political and older advisors tend to rule the building.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay something for months before signing contract. Allow mentoring from experienced advisors.
Pros
This is a great company to work for, there are global opportunites, the pay is competitive and we are given quite a bit of vacation time for the year, as well as "unlimited" sick days.
Cons
The yearly performance review process is painful, there are a lot of processes that seem unnecessary other than to keep HR in business.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the performance reviews, they are a waste of time. Also, control expenses, but don't make it impossible for me to order pencils without getting approval from 2 managers.
Pros
they dont know what I do
Cons
Profits come from proprietary products vs advisors so they really only care about producers who push the company store
Advice to Senior Management
good luck
Pros
Management is looking to empower employees to provide their ideas to provide a better company for all stakeholders. AXA is an extremely merit-based environment and an excellent place to work.
Cons
Fear of speaking out of turn in a hierarchical environment. Further there appears to be significant disadvantage in career trajectory and recognition in traditionally
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage mentoring program and collaboration among all departments, with emphasis on overlooked departments, where many "stars" tend to hide.
Pros
Great Benefits, Paid on par with the market. Flexible working Hours. Some departmets are laid back and lack the sense of urgency.
Cons
Not much growth. Some departmets are laid back and lack the sense of urgency. Good place to work if you are not ambitious or close to retirement..
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and be agile.
Pros
sky is the limit with income (commissions). professional atmosphere. series 7
Cons
commission based salaries are unstable. cold calling
Advice to Senior Management
Not sure.
Pros
good job growth opportunity
set your own schedule
Cons
poor management and training
have to pay for expenses yourself
Advice to Senior Management
In order to improve employee morale, better managers should be placed in each department. If they can groom a group properly, everybody profits.
