    Pros

You can leave the crappy Job whenever you want.

    Cons

Sales focused environment. Company does not train you properly. There are many conflicts of interest. Pay is terrible when you start. There is not much room to actually progress your career. These are some of the many dozen cons of this terrible company/job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be actual managers. And actually strive to improve the employee.

    Pros

Access to many different products to sell to clients

    Cons

Management is terrible, and they keep a lot from you during the interview.

At the end of the day, this job is what you make of it. Once you learn they can't fire you if you hit your quotas, you can really starting doing things on our own.

Some managers will call you late at night and will micro manage.

I have been working at AXA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Freedom to come and go as you please.

    Cons

Worked in public schools at a time when there is layoffs and no new hires. Supposed Orphan Lists to work to make money and build book of business is not as prosperous as it was made to be. The will put anyone in management. Has one of the lowest comp rates in industry and there are fees for everything including using social media.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The 403b market is dead. Need to find ways of helping new advisors et and retain business. Hire and pay dedicated managers like other firms. Having branch managers that's are also advisors does not help anone.

I worked at AXA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

AXA had good benefits when I worked there. In fact, that's pretty much the only reason I stayed. I loved the holidays off and the vacation time. The medical benefits were pretty good also.

    Cons

AXA is an okay place to work if you're just looking for employment but not if you're looking for advancement. The company trains and promotes only those employees whom they like. AXA is BIG on favoritism. As long as you kiss up to the managers you'll get what you want; but don't expect hard work, integrity and character to benefit you in any way, shape or form. I deeply regret having wasted so many years with the company. I was overworked and underpaid the entire time I was employed, but I stayed a/c the benefits and in hopes things would improve...which they never did.
Even though I always reported to work on time, put in overtime when asked with minimal complaining, did my job well with no salary increase worth mentioning, I was set up by my manager and team leader so that I could be terminated because of my age....I'm approaching retirement. They couldn't find any fault in my performance so they had to fabricate something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so biased in your decisions when it comes to promotions and terminations. You have let go valuable employees just because they were at or nearing retirement age. You'd rather keep young, trifling, money hungry employees that are always goofing off and couldn't care less about the future of the company and terminate hard working, committed employees because they're older or you just don't like them. You need to learn to prioritize and do what's best for the company. It's hard working, dedicated employees that have made the company what it is today.

I worked at AXA as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Flexible scheduling
    - My boss was great
    - VP in charge was highly skilled. Could learn a lot from him.

    Cons

    - Most advisors in training created a fraternity-type office culture. Monday morning: could hear them talking about their latest conquests using profane language.
    - A certain amount of sexual flirtation going on with the female secretary (which she seemed to enjoy)
    - All in all, office culture was the worst aspect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Might be nice to clean up office culture a bit.

I have been working at AXA full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The people are great, because we're all in the same boat. We all hate our jobs, so there's plenty of people to sympathize with.

    Cons

Not organized. No one ever knew what they were doing, and there was no one to turn to when you needed clear direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management had clear favorites, and those were the people given the most attention and were always the ones given new projects and opportunities.
