Aalto University Executive Education Ltd - building a better world through better leadership

    (Current Employee)

ProsSmart leadership, nice & smart co-workers. A great atmosphere of doing. People seem happy and want to do their best. Our people really care for our clients and will offer them only the best. Fresh fruit available in the office every day!!!

ConsSome of the tools aren't up to date and there's work to be done in harmonizing cultures after the recent merger. Most likely you'll want to work here so much, that it'll tip your work-life balance scale more on the work side.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on keeping the positive atmosphere alive and continue building trust.

University way of life with monsterous bureaucracy and low compensation.

    Engineer (Current Employee)
    Espoo (Finland)

ProsLarge freedom, working hours, artistic freedom. Management is quite OK. Very easy to adapt the work and family. Some great people and colleagues.

ConsBureaucracy is leech. You have to use your own credit card to cover travel expenses, and these expenses are not always covered, and very often only partially.

Tools are often obsolete. Salary .. well it is not par to private level at all. Young researchers have to live on starving level.

    Researcher

    Research Assistant (Former Employee)
    Espoo (Finland)

ProsRelaxed athmosphere and friendly co-workers. I could focus on my thesis and do research in an encouraging environment. Coworkers were smart, professional and supportive. Modern premises, good cantine and nice view over Laajalahti. Good libraries.

ConsNo career-advancement, short-term work contracts and low pay. Although research work itself may be very interesting and rewarding, I would not recommend it as a career.

    Research Assistant

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsQuite a relaxed atmosphere. I feel like I have room to think and can focus on my research. The extra duties are not too bad.

ConsThe resources are not too wonderful, but I guess satisfactory. There's some bureaucracy and some of the permanent staff are not too keen on getting things done fast. The facilities are OK, but at lunch time one really wishes the campus wasn't so far from everything.

    Advice to Senior Management-

Good place for study and research

Research Assistant, MSC Student (Current Employee)
    Espoo (Finland)

ProsGreat research environment is provided. People are really nice to each other. A number of activities are arranged to enrich employees' life.

ConsResearch funding is not quite much in some of the departments. Limited cooperation between the university and companies, which needs to be improved to give students more opportunities to get a job soon after graduation.
