    I worked at Abbott Labs

    Pros

Good salary and prestige. Very good segment to be in.

    Cons

customers come last though customers are the whole point. Processes are not followed and middle management is smart but to scattered --they deal with all problems in a very similar manner blame them on employ performance instead of the real fault unclear proceedures and processes. Old world thinking pressure the employee and keep them under your thumb.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer clear processes for employees to follow and follow-up on whether processes are working within a reasonable time frame. A company culture is very important not just talk but actual culture.

I have been working at Abbott Labs

    Pros

Overall package above average in industry

    Cons

HR Dept dishonest and disreputable - employees best interests far from their focus
Reknown in industry for revolving-door-company; people join and soon leave due to company's politics, lack of ethics and treatment from Managers and HR alike
Preach etkical values; practice the exact opposite -disreputable, dishonest, with long chain of unhappy employees within most of their Depts
Worst company I and 5 others within same team have ever worked for between our combined 63 years experience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lose your HR Dept - you know what tehy're doing to employees; they know; present employees know - soon those outside the company will know.........
Lose your 'bad' Managers - they should be 'managing' and 'encouraging' and 'supporting' - NOT discriminating or harrassing or criticising

    Pros

Abbott pays as good as other pharmaceutical companies, slightly above average. The health and prescription benefits are good. Also includes dental, life, disability and 401k with match.

    Cons

No time availability for vacation. Lack of accountability for Program Management. Program Managers have no clue what they're doing and management chooses to ignore this issue.

    I worked at Abbott Labs

    Pros

Benefits were decent, understanding co workers

    Cons

Management is too political, politics from top management all the way to the employees. The hours were long and the pay was low. Advancement isnt measured by degree or performance but who you know. Backstabbing employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your work force and recognize who the bad players are.

I have been working at Abbott Labs

    Pros

Good place to know the pharmaceutical business, and get a big pharma work experience. Stable, good campus, good benefit for working mother

    Cons

incompetent management, lack of innovation. Bad culture for research. Lack of long-term strategic view of the business. Still doing farely well because the big pharmas are searching direction now, while Abbott simply wait and see.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

promote culture that embrace healthy risk-taking, entrepreneurial mindset, and build trust b/w employee and management. Avoid the arrogancy that was prompt by lack of competitors nearby.

    I worked at Abbott Labs

    Pros

Great benefits. Accountable for your actions.

    Cons

There are too many politics involved when working for Abbott. Upper management is very arrogant, selfish, and too many employees are looking to be very cut throat. The culture is not comfortable. The management isnt very trustworthy. They will write you up for anything.

They dont care about you or your family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Take a step back and put yourself in your employees shoes. I left and I make alot more money and love what I do now

    I worked at Abbott Labs

    Pros

    Large company
    Medical/dental/ 401k/ect
Company car, expense account, get to meet and socialize with lots of people. Flexible schedule but very long working hrs.

    Cons

Old fashioned, get promotion based on friendship not performance. Unfair territory structure. If you get a good territory you are more likely to hit sales targets. If they like you and want to tap you for promotion in the future they give you the fertile territory from the jump. So you get high numbers and it seems like you are amazing when the numbers has little to do with your actual effort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually live up to your word of providing tuition reimbursement. You dont....its just in the brochure. I dont know anyone who actually gets this.
