Pros
Freedom to do the work, industry that is making an impact on the world, helping the environment, supporting the American farmer and US economy.
Cons
It can be very bureaucratic which can be frustrating, but the sucess of developing young people to be good leaders is worth all of the red tape.
Advice to Senior Management
Less micro management, allow people to take responsiblity to achieve objectives, give more respect to knowledge and experience, provide more quality training.
Pros
Bi- weekly pay. Medical benefit package. Company matching % to a 401K. Furnished and laundard work apparel. Almost new facility. Easy to build and operate a facility when you can acquire goverment secured loans, and receive government subsidies.
Cons
Below average pay for work. Out of pocket $$$ for medical package is very expensive. Pay gap and bonus amounts between salary and hourly employees are totally out of proportion. Substandard equipment. Extremely poor management.
Nearly everything that we told during the hiring process has not come true.....ie, promote from within, yearly bonuses and raises.
Extreme increase in number of middle management and corporate management jobs with high pay, but nothing for those who do the actual work, with less then adequate equipment.
Safety and enviromental policies are a joke.
Approximately 66% employee turn over in less then 3 years.
Micro management at it's best.
The list goes on, but I think this gives a good perspective of the culture
Advice to Senior Management
Strongly recommend getting trained in people and business managment>
Pros
As long as you cover for mismanagement, you'll stay employed.
Cons
Sometimes covering for mismanagement creates a 50 hour work week.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to get involved in SAP development and job descriptions.
Pros
The personalities at this plant are very easy going and good to work for. All the way from the hourly to the mangement postions.
Cons
They talked of promotions from within, yet have fallen short in proving this. They also told us that raises would happen annually and that too is not correct.
Advice to Senior Management
Start giving the people at the ground level that operate the plants, better pay and benefits. They are the backbone and driving force.
Pros
Bioenergy might be the wave of the future. It's yet to be determined. Ethanol is taking a beating right now as far as public perception goes though. If bioengergy storms to the forefront, then it could be a very lucrative and promising career with lots of potential for growth. Also, there is opportunity to work on a lot of different types of projects in many locations (and maybe a trip to Spain?).
Cons
What I referenced above. The future of bioenergy is uncertain. Tax breaks from governments could disappear.
Also, the job was dangerous. People were injured at the plant. I think the plant has been sold since I quit working there.
Advice to Senior Management
Well I never really heard much from them, so I would say that they need to communicate better with the employees.
