Pros
youthful environment, great social life ambient working place. the opportunity to meet a lot of people. good discount on many of the clothes.
Cons
not a very great pay, too many people working there and therefore you can not get many shifts, the hours are not that great.
Advice to Senior Management
you should hire a smaller amount of people so that the people who are already there can get more shifts.
Pros
Absolute best job for college students that dont need a big paycheck.
Cons
Besides being a lead stock (only one position pet store) or a manager (need a bachelors) there is ablosultly no room for improvement. All part-timers get minimum wage and even if a manager wanted to reward you i highly doubt the district manager would approve. Every songle thing has to be approved by district manager and they are really really strict on money and hours even though the store makes a fortune. I wish i got sales compensation cause i have upselled so many times. But the managers at our store are very good with keeping employees happy. Overall it is a very fun pplace to work and easy to get hours cause so many people give away shifts.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer raises, more discounts on AAA's cause it takes three days just to pay off a pair of jeans and shirt to work in not including the rainbow flip flops i had to cut the tag off and anf belt and tshirts. Iand dont hire 150 employees who dont know how to do anything. Just hire a few and treat them well with better pay and more hours. Overall it would save money cause we could get stuff done quicker and better.
Pros
- employee Triple A's where you get 50% off two tops, one bottom, and one flip flop every time there is a new floor set.
- you'll meet the coolest, most chill people here!
- schedule is really flexible. Everything is done electronically. You can schedule yourself available from this time to this time & have no problem at all.
- you don't have to have a lot of clothes or spend a lot of money on abercrombie clothes to work here
- managers are pretty cool/chill. they acknowledge when you do well. and they're only a little older than you, so they're like your friends.
- people dig that you work at a&f. it boosts your ego and confidence.
- the tasks you have to do are really chill and easy.. no hard work or stress is needed.
Cons
- other than the triple A's, all the other things are 30% off, and they're still expensive even after the 30% off.
- customers get better discounts than employees! which is ridiculous. We're the ones that have to wear your clothes, not them..
- your store manager makes the schedule, and if you're not his/her favorite, he/she will barely schedule you. schedules usually suck too. most people only get 1-2 shifts a week.
- call-ins are terrible. you have to call in an hour ahead of your call-in shift to see if they need you to work or not. you can never make permanent plans in case they might need you..
- you only get paid minimum wage.
- i used to get headaches and acne when I first started working there because of the constant cologne sprays (they have a cologne spraying machine) and extremely loud music.
**Overall, it's a chill job if you're in high school/ college student that still lives with your parents and don't need to pay any bills. **
Advice to Senior Management
Models and PTIs should get paid more than minimum wage, especially if they've been in the company for a long time. Managers should get paid more for running back and forth all day. And they only get paid half time for working over 40 hours. Is that even legal? A bachelor's degree shouldn't be a requirement to get the MIT position. A lot of other retail stores only require a high school diploma and they actually pay more too..
Pros
Fun place to work, with a happy go lucky atmosphere. You will get to meet many new people because they are most always hiring and recruiting. Good place to work if you are new in town and need to meet some new people.
Cons
Low pay for part time models and impact and generally will not raise your pay unless you become a manager. Loud music the obvious, and sometimes odd hours around holidays.
Advice to Senior Management
Be prepared to deal with people especially part time employees , seems the managers who were not good with people did not last long with the company.
Pros
You work at ANF for the reputation and prestige the name brings with it in the retail industry. Make the most of your opportunity through networking and you should be rewarded. Especially after college, it is a great place to start a career in the corporate retail world and serves as amazing training for your next company. Ongoing worldwide expansion over the next 5 years makes this the place to be.
Cons
Jobs are specialized and most employees are relegated to unique, repetitive, time-intensive tasks, but that's how you learn. To me, it always seems like families and people with babies get promoted faster. I doubt that that is true, though.
Advice to Senior Management
Everyone is so super busy I feel that it is easy to get lost in trying to find that mentor. While managers have a duty to the business, they can't forget their duty to their internal employees.
Pros
The atmosphere of the store is awesome. The managers make it easy to allow time off when an employee needs it. You make life long friends, there is a lot of opportunities with in the company for advancement.
Cons
Treat other employees or associates better compared on their ranking. If a model is a cast off they receive special privileges. Basically it is a company based on looks. If you aren't good looking you won't be able to work there.
Advice to Senior Management
Just continue to do what you do. Make sure everyone is treated fairly and that you continue to build a level of personalism as well as professionalism
Pros
Well-known and respected brand, extremely professional, interesting work
Cons
It is hard to rise up because management usually looks outside of the company for top positions
Advice to Senior Management
Promote more from within rather than always hiring from the outside
Pros
As long as you're pretty you'll have no problem getting the job.....(shrugs shoulders...whatevsss brah)
A majority of the clientele is eye candy.
Abercrombie & Fitch has a drug test policy. But they literally drug test zero percent of their employees.
The music is so loud it makes it easier to ignore the customers.
Cons
8.5 decibels. 8 hours a day. 40 hours a week. The hell that is my life. (Most jobs that dish out that much noise on a daily basis hand out ear plugs)
Horrible hours. With an ever rotating carousel of scheduling changes, which are never the same from week to week, expect to have zero life.
When they hire you, they dodge as many questions about salary as possible. When I point blank asked about the meager wages (22,000 a year after taxes). I was told that my hiring was merely a training position, and that in 7 weeks or however long their cult course M.I.T. Program training takes, I would receive a promotion. And promotion I did receive. Upon my completion of the training, they went into the staff listings on the company computer network, and clicked the little tab by my name. They changed "Position Listing" from M.I.T. to People Manager. With zero percent wage increase as I was led to believe. The quintessential "Gold Star" finger to the "we literally only hire 23 years olds fresh out of college with their degrees, who literally don't know any better than to take these "you're beautiful", "you're better than everyone else" uppper management strokes their egos with, all the while A&F is just diddling them around. Complaining about high management turnover to their underpaid employees, whilst simultaneously saving millions of dollars a year on HIGH MANAGEMENT TURNOVER.... For some reason the whole Catholic Priest tragedy keeps coming to mind for an analogy.....weird.
Advice to Senior Management
Considering the fact that Mike Jeffries dumped all his A&F stock on December 23rd, right before the earnings report crash in January...... I'm fairly certain that they don't give a (insert expletive).
Pros
Friendly laid back work environment.
Cons
Overworked underpaid and little recognition for hard work and over time.
Advice to Senior Management
.
Pros
all employees are so friendly and nice to each other besides some girl drama.
Cons
not much room for promotion and no raises based on performance
Advice to Senior Management
i understand that you higher a lot of college kids but managers can really pick some lazy and not so smart people. please do better.
