Pros
You don't have to do anything in the Orlando store in the millennia mall, but greet people.
Cons
You have to buy their clothes which is worth a pet check.
Pros
Store has a really laid back atmosphere and you can quickly learn everything you need to know about the job in a month or two.
Cons
If you're a hard worker, you'll be expected to continuously give 110% while the people around you who do nothing but suck up to the store manager get yearly fifty cent raises. In order to move into management, you need a four-year degree but after I received mine and asked about a manager-in-training interview, I was no longer scheduled and never heard anything back.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be stronger accountability for results other than just meeting sales numbers. Managers simply hire any pretty face and District Managers hire on how well they like you which usually ends up with that manager recruit leaving in half a year.
Pros
working with great, talented people.
Great benefits, and very competitive pay rate.
being involved with the product the whole way through the design process
Cons
way too many designers all fighting for the lime light.
There are too many restrictions on what is "brand right" that its leads to the same product being produced year after year.
Advice to Senior Management
there need to be more of a structure with reviews and feedback. Having a review once a year is not enough to help people excel and grow in the company
Pros
The discount is nice, the hours are extremely flexible, and you'll probably work with friends/peers.
Cons
The managers are too young to have a sense of skills and what it takes to run the store. Although the store looks organized, within employers it is unorganized and there is virtually no training. You basically learn as you go, which personally I don't like.
Advice to Senior Management
The managers are not managing or training properly.
Pros
Discount if you wear the clothes and being able to say that you work/ed at Abercrombie and Fitch.
Cons
The pay is low, there is no respect from management, hours are only given to favorites, impacters have to do the job of model as well, little to no room to be promoted, very superficial ( hire based on look)
Advice to Senior Management
Increase hourly wage because impacters and model at the end of the day are the ones that keep the store going...not managers, have actual training and not 2 useless videos that you watch during "orientation" and hire for more than a pretty face because no one likes an airhead! And train managers better!
Pros
The people and atmosphere is fun and everyone is really outgoing and likes to hang out outside of work.
Cons
You get few hours and make minimum wadge. Your treated poorly by customers and they are usually uptight and stuck-up.
Advice to Senior Management
To be more professional. The management would tend to act immature and then turn around and aspect you to respect them.
Pros
-Work for a company that has a very detailed brand image and distinguishable target market
-Learn multiple role and the ins and outs of retail
Cons
-Low pay
-Fast pace
-Takes a long time to move up
Pros
College degree required. Work with "chill" employees. Easy to work hard
Cons
Promotions are rare. You must move to make this a career
Advice to Senior Management
Some DM's are amazing, some need to realize they aren't the greatest people whoever walked the planet
Pros
Discount is nice for management. Fun environment which is usually laid-back and casual. Overall the job is enjoyable and low stress except during floorsets and high traffic times like back to school or Christmas.
Cons
Low pay considering a bachelors degree is required for ANY management position. Comparable retailers don't require advanced education, yet pay higher. If you expect the best, the pay should reflect that. Managers also often work more than 40 hours, yet as a salaried manager you receive no overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
Please stop playing favorites. It's incredibly annoying when someone is promoted to store manager, and then district manager after only two years with the company, yet there are individuals who have been there for years longer wanting to move up. Nepotism and politics are more evident at A&F, and it's pretty obvious. Upper management also stresses to have the best looking store associates possible, which is understandable, but the pay is substandard for the quality you expect. Most people work for a paycheck, and naturally people go where they can make the highest income.
Pros
-50% discount on "triple A's" which are always in style (30% discount is reasonable)
-super easy tasks (fitting rooms, greeting in front)
-get to wear clothes to work you'd wear to other places
-smell like "fierce" w/o having to buy cologne
-easy to take time off, all through computer system
Cons
-minimum wage w/ no opportunity for increase
-greeting in front gets really boring
-don't get praised for good work
-discount doesn't apply to clearance (which is usually only 30%)
-call-in system is kind of annoying (must call 1 hr before then have little time to get ready if they need you)
Advice to Senior Management
Praise employees for good work, consider giving raises to those who have been in the company for years.
