I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It was a great first job and allowed me to interact with different kinds of people on a daily basis. It helped me tremendously with confidence and has allowed me to successfully use what I learned in the job to transition to other jobs! The environment is very low-stress and I felt like it was a chill "party" all the time!!

    Cons

Very strict in appearance (clothes-wise and grooming wise)

I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

At the time of employment, the benefits were great compared to other employers I had after working for A&F. Networking was a big thing. Got to meet a lot of people. Upper level micromanaging of every store helped run each store uniformly so that transferring from store to store was easy.

    Cons

Pay wasn't the best compared to other retailers. (I was told the benefits make up for it, yea only if you take advantage of it)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay management more if you want them to stay and it will increase performance of your store. American Eagle managers were making almost 10K more a year.

I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working in a management role helped me to develop my own management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. The employees that I worked with were very fun and laid-back.

    Cons

The culture and corporate directives were very inflexible. This often led to subjective choices that often conflicted within store management and regional management. Also, the culture the company wished for its employees to display was often hard to encourage when little incentive was given to part-time employees to convey the culture and style the company wished to portray.

I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed making friends with all of my co-workers
Customers were courteous and kind for the most part
Excellent training from competent store-level management
As soon as I got my degree, management opportunities were made attainable to me

    Cons

The compensation for entry-level employees is abysmal.
I'm not sure if I should hold upper management responsible for this, but sexual harassment of employees by customers is rampant and at times made me quite uncomfortable.
Stores often hire more people than necessary which makes it difficult for even the most tenured employees to pick up a decent amount of hours.

I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

it is a fun environment, with other young people, you get to wear jeans, early morning shifts are a fun opportunity for store builds, it is fun to get a look at what items are going on sale before they go out

    Cons

Turnover is high, no one is asking you to think, coworker mindfulness varies, the business is slow and you could spend a large amount of time refolding the same items to fill the time

    Pros

A lot of my friends worked here, you get good discounts. Managers are usually very friendly, easy work.

    Cons

You are required to buy the clothes for the uniform. $50 for plain brown leather flip flops is just a little ridiculous. They also want you to be totally natural and even went as far as asking me to dye my hair... how is that natural? It was blonde at the time and they wanted it brown.

    Pros

Working for this company is as if you aren't working at all. Sure, you have to be to work on time and perform job duties, but the amount of fun I had makes it difficult for me to call it 'work'. Overall, It was an awesome experience. Definitely look into it if it's your first job or need a part-time job while in school.

    Cons

    The pay is minimum wage.
