I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You are able to schedule and update your availability online.

    Cons

    - It's a popularity hot stop; management and employees are snobby and stuck up--if you are not part of the group it's very hard to fit in and you end up feeling awkward. Typical high-school crap.
    - Management judges employees based on appearance
    - LOW LOW LOW pay
    - 4 hour shifts.. your paychecks are literally like $28 every two weeks; mine were working part-time at least
    - On-call shifts pretty much ruin your whole day--some days you'll get called in and other days you won't so you pretty much sit at home and can't make any plans or anything just in case. The company does every trick in the book to try and skimp as much money as possible from the employees.
    - STRICT STRICT dress code!! Your hair can't be a certain way, your nails can't be a certain color, you must wear flip-flops or converse (sweet, there goes your paycheck buying freaking converse)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Stop judging people on the way they look--I find it disgusting that management veritably confirmed that they will not hire a person who dropped of their resume just because of the way they looked.
    2. Stop clumping up into groups that clearly isolate other employees not part of it-- horrible environment to work in; grow up! Save that stuff for your lunch break or after work.

I have been working at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You'll love it if you're dumb. Easy job right out of college.

    Cons

You are literally only promoted if you look like the people on the marketing. They do not and will not promote based on merit or results (unless the results you're counting are if there are all attractive people working at your store). So basically if you kiss up to your district manager and look pretty, even if you run your store into the ground you'll get promoted!
    Compensation.
No set schedule, not even guaranteed a weekend day off.
    Manager turnover.
No positive reinforcement, just things to "push back on" so you perpetually feel like you're doing a terrible job.
    Working with 17 year olds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Increase pay.
Don't discourage your managers from taking their vacation.
Care about something other than looks.
Learn what words actually mean; the company lingo is not accurate.
    Be nice.
Allocate more hours to stores so standard can actually be maintained.

    Pros

The only thing AF does right is hire outgoing and attractive people. So attractive, in fact, that doing your job is not even a requirement. I routinely witnessed more attractive (also less intellectually autonomous) colleagues promoted over more experienced, better qualified individuals. While fun in the beginning the negatives far outweighed the positives.

    Cons

Management communicates horribly using only predetermined lines. Hierarchy results in extremely inefficient planning and execution of tasks. Questionable hiring and promotion practices. Not a good environment for anyone who questions leadership, rules, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate better with your employees. Treat them better (everyone hates you) if you expect them to follow the pointless rules set up.

    Pros

It is an easy full time job to get. You can be the dumbest person on earth but as long as you are handsome/pretty, you will get the job

    Cons

Long hours, terrible pay, shallow corporate culture

    Its a dead end job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to pay your employees more and create a company culture of mutual respect

I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Good for anyone who needs experience as their first job, I suppose. It was my first. Minimum wage. Learned to build greater self worth and self respect (see cons). Learned what is and is not acceptable for any future job or life in general. Learned how to stand my ground confidently towards both men and women.

    Cons

They treat Impact terribly. Be prepared to get harassed- management and customers. Sexual exploitation/advances. Arranged marriage/payment. Sugar daddies. Run. You have to be 18+ for a reason. They know what they're doing. No proper training. Run fast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of employees when they are being harassed. Especially the girls. It's scary and sad. Better yet just give up. Kids don't wear this anymore and you all have offended EVERYONE.
