    Pros

All of the people that work there are really nice. The best part though is the benefits! It pays to work for a European company.

    Cons

Smaller company in the US so not a lot of growth opportunities. Some of the employees aren't great at their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Open up job opportunities for people outside of the graduate program.

    Advice to Management

Introduce more meritocratic-based incentives without soiling the wonderful culture that has been existing

I worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many, some coworkers were bright people and the office had a nice view. Compensation wasn't bad and decent amount of vacation.

    Cons

Management is clueless and they treat people terribly. Have never experienced such rude management that speaks to employees like they are peasants. Business is headed in the wrong direction and some employees are just downright incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to treat employees, give feedback and show some interest other than being a J/O boss. Some managers live the business 24 hours a day that they can't take a step back to accurately evaluate how to handle a situation properly.

I worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility. Paid based on contributions.

    Cons

When the firm started to have issues with its flagship product, management should have taken it more seriously and acted quicker to make changes.

    Advice to Management

A great firm was built only to see it crumble.

  9. Benefits are great but Management is Clueless

I worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, pay decent, vacation days, bright young people, growing company with international reach. Exposure to offices around the world. Lots of projects.

    Cons

Senior management needs an overhaul. They are clueless that the department all wants to leave the second they have the chance. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Time to get rid of the deadwood at the top of the food chain. They are driving away talent in the same department continuously.

  10. The small size and dynamic nature of the company provides a broad exposure for employees to learn and grow.

I worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits package and some very good talent to work with. Working for the IT department provided some really great learning opportunities. The company has done well investing in some of the latest technologies and keeping them current. Some of the technical resources within the IT group are very strong and talented.

    Cons

Little to no upward mobility. The company performance has been declining.

    Advice to Management

The IPO was a great success at the time but long standing employees could and should have been rewarded with more stock options.

  11. Above average pay - lack of drive by individuals

    Pros

Great pay/benefits, flex time during workday and work from home.

    Cons

Employees aren't driven. Too many take advantage of flexible hours. Management doesn't pay attention to workflow and doesn't value employee feedback.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees.
