Pros – friendly staff, work life balance is very good, learning opportunity good for career in asset management industry. Firm has an emphasize on rotations and secondement--very nice exposure.
Cons – salary is a bit lower than average asset management firms. Conservative culture in the London office

Current Employee – been working at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time for less than a year
Pros – The pay is appropriate, the benefits are unbeatable, and the people are great. Given the flat structure, there is access to upper management, which is a component of the company that I feel some of my coworkers do not appreciate.
Cons – I don't have any qualms with the company at this time. I stumbled upon this site because my brother wanted me to see a review of his firm. I was surprised to see the other reviews about Aberdeen.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – It has the best culture as compared to large banks that I have worked. POlitics are mild.here.
Cons – most people that worked for more than 5 years are pretty comfortable, and I'm afraid the company will regress instead of progress.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire people who could manage people!

Former Employee – worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Growing business and recovering from the split caps miselling debacle, some friendly and helpful people in the business. Gradually working to improve systems and controls.
Cons – Pay not in line with market and bonuses a joke (unless you happen to be Scottish), very political (cloaks and daggers come to mind..) and promotion is not transparent and non-existent. Incredibly old-school Scottish fund manager and not very diverse. If you don't follow the status quo, you are quickly got rid off.
Advice to Senior Management – Realise the need to have an all inclusive work place and treat employees with respect, where an open dialogue is encouraged. Also, more appreciation of the peoples hard work and saying thank you or well done wouldn't go amiss once in a while.

Current Employee – been working at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time for less than a year
Pros – Chilled, extremely flexible and relexed, friendly colleagues, less hierachy, rotational programme can give you a lot of exposure to different areas, growing business
Cons – every grad has to go through some back office positions, less focused, growing too fast to accomodate the challenges from infrastructure, business systems and cultural shocks, pay is not terribly low but still not very good compared to another fund with similar AUM, less salary rise potential
Advice to Senior Management – There is no conflict between being prestigious and maintaining the Aberdeen culture.Should start working on upgrading the infrastructure and business systems; invest more on employees
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
