    Terrible experience.

    Analyst (Former Employee)
    Philadelphia, PA

ProsNot many, some coworkers were bright people and the office had a nice view. Compensation wasn't bad and decent amount of vacation.

ConsManagement is clueless and they treat people terribly. Have never experienced such rude management that speaks to employees like they are peasants. Business is headed in the wrong direction and some employees are just downright incompetent.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to treat employees, give feedback and show some interest other than being a J/O boss. Some managers live the business 24 hours a day that they can't take a step back to accurately evaluate how to handle a situation properly.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Very good while it lasted. I worked with a lot of great people,

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsOpportunity to take on a lot of responsibility. Paid based on contributions.

ConsWhen the firm started to have issues with its flagship product, management should have taken it more seriously and acted quicker to make changes.

Advice to Senior ManagementA great firm was built only to see it crumble.

Benefits are great but Management is Clueless

    Compliance (Former Employee)
    Philadelphia, PA

ProsBenefits, pay decent, vacation days, bright young people, growing company with international reach. Exposure to offices around the world. Lots of projects.

ConsSenior management needs an overhaul. They are clueless that the department all wants to leave the second they have the chance. High turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementTime to get rid of the deadwood at the top of the food chain. They are driving away talent in the same department continuously.

The small size and dynamic nature of the company provides a broad exposure for employees to learn and grow.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGreat benefits package and some very good talent to work with. Working for the IT department provided some really great learning opportunities. The company has done well investing in some of the latest technologies and keeping them current. Some of the technical resources within the IT group are very strong and talented.

ConsLittle to no upward mobility. The company performance has been declining.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe IPO was a great success at the time but long standing employees could and should have been rewarded with more stock options.

Above average pay - lack of drive by individuals

    Analyst (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGreat pay/benefits, flex time during workday and work from home.

ConsEmployees aren't driven. Too many take advantage of flexible hours. Management doesn't pay attention to workflow and doesn't value employee feedback.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees.

Good company for its size but

    (Former Employee)

ProsSmaller firm - exposure to broader spectrum of your work - it is upto you to get involved
Good opportunities to learn business and other skill sets
    Peaceful work life

ConsSmaller firm - restricted opportunities to grow vertically
Less transparency about future growth, vision and projects
Poor communication and management from top down
Closed boundaries provides less insight to what is happening around you, even within your team
No manager plan or road map for your work and growth
No training - may be for few lucky ones
Even if you have exposure to multiple things, there is no planned or matured approach

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove open communication
Involve or at least keep your team members aware of what is happening in terms of work , growth and prospects
Have some growth plan and road map for your employees interms of work and growth

Prosfriendly staff, work life balance is very good, learning opportunity good for career in asset management industry. Firm has an emphasize on rotations and secondement--very nice exposure.

Conssalary is a bit lower than average asset management firms. Conservative culture in the London office

Advice to Senior Managementmight be worthwhile to foster a firm-wide corporate culture

great place to work - growing firm, good benefits, good people

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Philadelphia, PA

ProsThe pay is appropriate, the benefits are unbeatable, and the people are great. Given the flat structure, there is access to upper management, which is a component of the company that I feel some of my coworkers do not appreciate.

ConsI don't have any qualms with the company at this time. I stumbled upon this site because my brother wanted me to see a review of his firm. I was surprised to see the other reviews about Aberdeen.

    Good stepping stone

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Pros- great talent, smart individuals from whom you can learn a great deal
    - good comp, decent pension

Cons- minimal growth potential, depending on dept.
    - as with any financial institution, long hours (then again, this also depends on dept)
