Pros
I like my job because i get to work with patients in need in sevice.
Cons
This job is very stressful because you must risk someone elses life for your carefulness.
Advice to Senior Management
Always check your work
Pros
excellent learning, teamwork, and support
Cons
needs better IT help with computer issues, IT and HIS departments are too small
Advice to Senior Management
invest more into employing more IT HIS staff
Pros
Great work life balance, fair benefits.
Cons
Poor communication, no morale among workers.
Pros
Abington is a really nice campus and the employees are great, hard-working people. Benefits are comprable to other area hospitals.
Cons
senior management is dishonest and under-handed. the pay is below market average, but managment still gets their bonuses even though pay has been frozen for everyone else. All nurses are being required to get their BSN within 10 years, but with no incentive. Tuition reimbursement is stingy. Took on too much change too fast.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your nurses! Doctors may bring patients, but we are the ones who keep them happy and make sure they get safe, effective care.
Pros
some of to reason to work at abington memorial hospital is the people i work with and the place i work
Cons
the way some people go to work for 8hrs and do nothing and get paid for and every body has to do what they didnt do
Advice to Senior Management
i would just want them to keep the employees working and improving the work place so we have a place to work
Pros
I enjoy the people I work with.
Cons
Poor employees that get away with talking their way into looking important.
Pros
For the most part, when it comes down to the real importance of the office, we all stick together.
Cons
Some things never change. Lack of communication and teamwork.
Pros
Abington can feel like one big family. The staff are all very friendly with one another and work together very well.
Cons
Very busy hospital and pay scale should reflect this more. Volumes are as high as city hospitals but do not pay as much.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees and find out what would be their ideal schedule. It would improve job satisfaction and work attitude.
Pros
Very clean & professional on the surface, Good Drs, Impressive looking campus Good location. Some things are done very well. Parking is not a problem for most.
Cons
Despite being Magnet certified, not all nurses agree. Some dissatisfied nurses are afraid to speak up - rightfully afraid to lose their jobs. Certain areas have very poor morale and it shows. Underpaid before Magnet, AMH makes an adjustment prior to Magnet survey. Hospital appears too caught up in their community image and not on fundamentals that truly make or break their reputation - excellent nursing care. Happy nurses make happy patients.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to seriously keep nurses from quitting since it's expensive and disruptive to replace or retrain nurses - especially when many want to leave one department. Maybe you should allow a union to represent nursing. Maybe you should not fire people that want to make such a change.
Pros
The pay is good for my position but the work load makes patient care difficult.
Cons
Not enough staff to handle the patient load, especially since Abington bought two local hospitals and their patients are now coming to Abington.
Advice to Senior Management
I know the main goal is to make a buck but the health care is begining to suffer when you cut back staff to save money.
