    Informational and rewarding.

    IS Systems Analyst (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsMost of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Everyone was helpful and never bothered when asked for assistance.

ConsChallenging if you aren't familiar with Medical/Legal procedures and responsibilities. You have to be open to learn a lot of rules, information, and proceses very quickly.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider contracted employees as you would interns. If you haven't decided to convert them from contract to full time hire, have the manager have an exit interview. Let this exit interview act as a review of the employee and how they have grown in their field. Then suggest to them what they can work on to better themselves to succeed in their future jobs.

management has no accountabilty. They don't care about their employees.

    CBO (Former Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsWorked at the CBO regional office. Most of the non exempt employees are nice and hardworking. They have good coffee in the employee lunchroom.

ConsMost of the management are new in their position and not trained to lead. There's no accountability because they are scared they will lose their new position. They expect you to get your work done in 8hrs even if systems didn't work and short on staff. Awful manager keeps implementing what she learned from seminars but not applying it to herself. She thinks everyone is stupid but only lets her talk because whatever they do will be used against them.HR works for management only. THE PAY IS NOT GOOD.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop taking credit for the hard work of your non exempt employees. Take accountability and protect your employees. Practice humility and be a mentor. Stop writing up your employees so they can't transfer. Don't make your office just for telling them how bad they too. Compliment each one for good work every now and then.

Disorganized Leadership team and health system

System Director Operations Improvement (Former Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsGood people recruited but no one is developed or retained.

ConsTurnover among system and facility leadership was 60% in 1 1/2 years. No latitude at the health system to develop into a meaningful structure. No control of capital. Leaders spend the majority of time trying to figure out what happened in order to appear knowledgable for their calls to corporate. No identity as a health system, no planning or engaging in strategic thinking. The most dysfunctional environment of which I have been a part. This is all meant to be descriptive not mean spirited. All of the people I worked with were well intentioned not cut throat.

Advice to Senior ManagementCorporate needs to think why they have a regional office. It offers little to know value. The hospitals do not exist in any meaningful way that indicate a system exists, except for maybe purchasing power for medical supplies.

Worked at Abrazo full-time for a little over 5 years.

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsThe front line staff had a true sense of team work and effective communication.

ConsEffective communication, honesty and cross-training with upper management was always an on-going concern. Each year, there was constant upper management turnover; employee would become aware of these changes through the "grape vine."

Advice to Senior ManagementThe organization should strive for new leadership with people who understands business strategy, values people and communicates changes timely.

Quite Disorganized and little to no communication

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsThere are some really good people who work here - mainly at the staff level.

    Cons-Poor communication
-Mismanagement abound - "flavor of the moment" management when they can't even get the basics right
-Constant fear of the financial swings and when the next round of layoffs will be
-Pay is not competitive with the market
    -CONSTANT upper management turnover
-The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together or you aren't going to make it in the AZ market

You You can do better Y

    Any (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsHelping sick people feel well. There's a core group of staff who stick together and make the workplace an enjoyable experience because they are there for the right reasons, the patients who count on them to get better.

ConsThe company is not employee oriented. They care more about equipment than the staff. I don't think they care about the staff much at all, honestly. No salary increase in the past 5 years, except a miniscule 1% which they quickly negated with higher medical insurance cost to employees. Poor leadership at all facilities, ivory tower leaders who are more focused on increasing and exerting their power than really improving staff experience and patient care.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can build all the new facilities you want and purchase and install all the state of the art, newest technologic equipment you want, but if you don't have the RN's and staff to take care of the patients you might as well consider all capital expenses a loss. Try investing in your human capital for just 1 or 2 years and you will see a dramatic increase in revenue and profit. We don't work in an "if you build it they will come" industry. You have to have quality nurses and ancillary staff to be successful and Abrazo does not.

    Integration of staff and administration

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsMost all of the administrators are willing to teach incoming staff. Almost always have needed equipment to do the job. Work environment was pleasant and staff cooperative when approached by someone to review a area where improvement was needed.

ConsToo often there was not the correct matrix of staff to complete the amount of work that needed to be done. When this happens, discontent tends to grow, leading to unhappy employess, and not a desire to be on their best game every day---leads to not as many good outcomes all around--in patient care, in adminitration, all around the facility.
Too much turnover of employees, unable to maintain a cohesive staff when employees do not feel valued, and look for other places to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf staff is valued by acknowledgement of not only poor performance, but good performence. it makes an individual strive to do their best. If people are aware of WHY there needs to be compliance in certain specific area, there is a better chance of cooperation.

    Human Resources (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsThe coworkers and staff are great- a very talented group of people. I have been in the organization 5 years and had great opportunities to learn and grow professionally and personally.

ConsA previous bad reputation continues to follow us, though many of those things have been changed. Abrazo's future is very bright- there are lots of good things happening here!
