    Great experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWonderful products and coworkers. During my time at Absolute Software I was given the opportunity to utilize my skills while also building on my experience to further advance my future career goals.

ConsLack of proactive apporach to growth and innovation led to quick and reactive decision making rather than a more strategic apporach at times.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    It's ok. Could be better.

    Inside Acct Executive (Current Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsGreat pool of talent, nice people, global company with a very unique product.

ConsDoesn't spend enough on marketing, needs more communication between offices, a less time consuming process for getting quotes out the door.

    Good company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsSmart employees, good technology, opportunity to learn a lot.

ConsSmall company, pretends to be big, and can't compete in the large space. Constant fire drills.

Advice to Senior ManagementStep up and hire more people to provide the appropriate level of service and to compete in the large verticals, or stay out of them. Otherwise, you are just running your people ragged. Stop trying to be all things to all people, with literally 300ish employees it's a joke.

Unique technology, great company culture, lots of potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsA great technology company with a unique technology platform, a range of different products across IT, a medium size company competing in some large markets. A big oppourtunity lies ahead for Absolute Software. Great company culture and personnel.

ConsAbsolute Software is at a challenging size, a mid-market tech company in a market with large competitors. Absolute has unique technology but needs to focus and set a clear path for all teams to align under.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet the right leadership in place, set a 2 year strategic plan, and hold all members of management accountable and ensure they execute on the vision, all working from the same game plan. Also identify staff members that can assist with delivering on this plan as the company grows, and reward them.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Development

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

ProsGreat location in the heart of vancouver's business district.

ConsStifling work environment. Really bad management (excessive politics & game playing). A few aggressive coworkers. This company is perfect if you speak russian or chinese and simply want to a place to show up, do your work and head home. There is zero culture.

Even among recruiters Absolute is gaining a bad reputation.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have a culture crisis on your hands and it's been on going for some time. Make the tough decisions to make Absolute a great place to work.

Very interesting product, good people, growing pains

    Product Development Department (Former Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

Pros- Dynamic environment good for learning.
    - Good people.
    - Exciting industry, lots of interesting growth opportunity.
    - Interesting technology.

Cons- Sales-driven organization means lots of change. Sometimes good, sometimes very disruptive.
    - Difficulty operating as a midsize org. Still the wrong elements of startup mentality.
    - Many people have great difficulty working with CEO [Note: As of Dec 2013 CEO is gone]

Advice to Senior ManagementStabilize plans. Hire talented people and let them do their jobs.

Great co-workers, nice benefits, worst tech management ever!

    Systems Development Engineer (Former Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

Prosgreat benefits: food and drinks, medical coverage, 6% bonus (eh not bad)

Consmanagement does not believe in giving raises and does not recognizes seniority based on level of contribution. I have left the job there and was available to find a job with 27% raise in base salary 10% more in bonuses! it's a lot of raise but again I was well under valued at Absolute!

Advice to Senior Managementkeep the good & brilliant people happy, for the short while that I was there the turn over of capable people was 100%!!
also shred the excess weight of huge QA department and weaker links so u can afford to keep the right people!

Poor corporate culture, rampant politcs, unethical management

    Software Developer (Former Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

ProsWell run company from a financial perspective, stable. Positioned well in a growing market segment with strong corporate partnerships. Mature software platform built on unique set of technologies.

ConsCompany is rampant with politics and well known power struggles between current and former executives. Senior management is known to have participated in unethical practices including employee harassment and use of corporate funds for personal gain. Corporate culture is deplorable, highlighted by an ineffective human resources department and unappreciated employees leading to above average turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop a strong corporate culture that values employees and promotes loyalty, starting with an effective HR department. Put politics aside and work together to create a strong company, both culturally and financially.

A mediocre company. Good for gaining some experience, but not long-term career growth.

    Within R&D (Former Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

Pros- Cool product, with an interesting client base
    - Good people people with a nice atmosphere
    - Great location (Bental IV in Downtown Vancouver... what's not to like?)

Cons- Lack of focus and direction for product
    - Rounds of lay-offs don't give one a terrible sense of long-term job security

Advice to Senior Management- Focus more on the 2-3 year plan, and communicate the reasoning behind strategic objectives
    - Try to STICK to those strategic objectives, and communicate why you're straying if necessary
    - Check your ego at the door, and do what's right for the business...

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
