I worked at Absolute Spa part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As a mother with 2 small children I found the work to be very flexible. This company definitely supports a strong work/life balance which I really appreciated. I got to utilize the skills I received at esthetics school right away, no working as a housekeeper/attendant for months before I got to see real clients.

    Cons

I wish I could have worked more full time, being only available on weekends made it tough for me to take advantage of weekly operational duties of the spa as I was so busy with clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More large company wide team meetings, I would have liked to get to know some of the team at different locations better.

Very understanding of personal issues and schedule needs, especially for those who have children

    Cons

Need more locations outside of the Metro Vancouver area. (ie: Whiterock, Langley, New West etc. On Vancouver Island would be great also!)

Need more team events - the Christmas party is such a great time for everyone involved, it would be great if there were company wide gatherings like that more often, maybe twice a year?!?

I worked at Absolute Spa for less than a year

    Pros

The good thing about working in Absolute Spa is - you can tell people that you are working in a "high end" spa in the 4stars hotel.

    Cons

Very poor management, when I got hire, manager gave me a 5days 8hours schedule, after I started about a week, they started to cut my hours, put me on call, call me for a 3 hours shift?!! what a cheap company! Also I got a damage uniform, I ask my manager for a new one, never get reply, end up i fix it by myself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company need a better management, also a company has 11 locations can not afford to pay your employees full time hours? That's insane!

I have been working at Absolute Spa for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly people, flexible if you want to trade shifts.

    Cons

Lied about hours, commissions made and actual booking you will be taking. They lie to bring you on board, high employee turn over. Basically minimum wage and you don't get full time hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell the truth, it seemed like a great place to work and I was really excited. Now I'm just unhappy.

I have been working at Absolute Spa

    Pros

-Great people in all areas (management, housekeeping, estheticians, body workers, accounting),
-excellent philanthropic opportunities (absolute spa provides opportunities for staff to get involved with philanthopy),
-great clients (lots of return and regular clients),
-understanding management team (understanding if you need time off or have questions or concerns),
-staff and team strive for the 5 star service extending to showing guests homecare,
-great ongoing training to all staff,
    -wide variety of great products
-excellent communications from all levels of employees.

    Cons

    - our industry is busiest when other people are off work, so we are generally scheduled more on evenings and weekends, some people may not like this but i enjoy it as i make more money when i'm busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Absolute Spa

    Pros

Owners care a lot. Understand needing to take time for personal situations. Our guests are the best. Lots of chance to work at different locations and keep busy. I like the products that we have and chances to learn about those products and practice for new services. Pay is better than other spas.

    Cons

Weekends are very busy so I can't always have a weekend off when I want. But then again I like it when its busy.

I have been working at Absolute Spa

    Pros

unlimited days for vacation, up to 40% discounts on products, good food at the christmas parties, good tips, paid hourly as well as commission.

    Cons

really low commission (they just lowered it again), management pushes you to sell, some of my co-workers have old uniforms and they promise they will renew them but promises are usually broken. Biggest pet peeve, they constantly screw up your paycheque.
