Pros
There are great benefits for health and dental, alot of fun coworkers, and a collegial atmosphere along with a flexible schedule.
Cons
Low pay compared to other consulting industries, most skills and knowledge you learn are government/public policy specific and non transferable.
Advice to Senior Management
Salaries are too low. It is difficult to retain good talent when employees in competing industries are making twice as much.
Pros
The pros are that they do work in fields where it is important, such as environment, housing, social policy, education, etc. The work-life balance is really good.
Cons
The cons are that they do work that isn't always the highest priority and can get shelved on a moments notice. It can be sort of boring too, but maybe that holds for all jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Not sure.
Pros
Great benefits, flexible schedule, family-friendly, interesting work
Cons
Disconnect between management & senior staff & junior staff, limited opportunities for professional development for junior staff
Advice to Senior Management
Hire project managers for projects!
Pros
Work life balance and knowing that the company is doing work that makes people's lives better
Cons
Company is currently at a turning point and needs to find it's new direction
Advice to Senior Management
Bring more of a business focus to managing the business
Pros
It's a good place for people who want intellectual stimulation. The people are friendly and respectful.
Cons
Like all consulting businesses, your work load and subject matter is determined by the clients you have. So, if you don't like the client work, you're in an unfortunate position.
Advice to Senior Management
Staff need more professional development and feedback about their work in order to advance professionally. Also, it's good to give staff an opportunity to contribute to business development, especially when clients solicit project ideas. This encourages creativity and makes staff feel like they're "part of the team" in the grander sense.
