Former Employee – worked at Abt full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Great sales training
Pay is a little better than normal retail
Benefit and 401 match
Co-woker
Cons – During December they require you to work extra days.
Sales meeting starts at 9pm and ends 11pm. So the more things they see wrong the longer the sales meeting goes.
Bonus should be given out right or not... Current system is you start off a bonus and when their's a problem you minus it.
If you didn’t eat at the restaurant at least once a month you didn’t show support then your on the bad list; And when you ate their not much of discount.
Advice to Senior Management – stop changing the rules every week.

Current Employee – been working at Abt full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – It's a job and that's a stretch
Cons – Very over worked and under paid, micro managed, the owners are all in the family and don't care about anyone but themselves, they continually lie to customers, any discounts or free service issues are take from the pay of sales people or delivery staff(the company never loses only employees)All managers brownnosed thier way up.You feel like your walking on eggshells(going to lose your job if you say the wrong thing or look at someone wrong way) everyday you go to work. They think everyone that works for them wants to steal from them,Everyone entering or leaving the building must pass through a metal detector(except the owners)Customer is always right ,employees are always wrong. The whole company is inherited from the dead grandfather, all the owners do is handle cust.complains(the ones that get to them)and watch the video cameras to figure out new ways to screw over thier employees.I don't want to sound disgruntled so thats all I'll put,But it's all true.: )
Advice to Senior Management – Don't sux ,get a life, and quit screwing people over for your own advancement,(what comes around goes around)

Current Employee – been working at Abt
Pros – Good pay especially with the amount of overtime worked. Good benefits and the employer really does care for his workers. Good vacation time as well.
Cons – long hours, you are finished when you are done with all of your deliveries which in some cases takes from 7 in the morning to 10 at night. Lots of heavy lifting.
Advice to Senior Management – Being forced to work 6 days out of the week gets tiring.

Current Employee – been working at Abt
Pros – Strong bond between employees.
Decent benefits package i.e. insurance, vacation time, employee gym
Cool place to work for the first year or two.
Cons – Ineffective employees are kept around far too long.
No evaluations are ever done.
Promotions and raises seem to be based on chance and luck.
Advice to Senior Management – Management should seek to gain a better understanding of what each employee does and look to cut waste and promote those out performing.

Former Employee – worked at Abt
Pros – Can learn about high-end products, nice people, willing to share what they know. I liked the employee discount
Cons – It's retail and you can't always take time off when you want to but that's not necessarily a problem with ABT...that's retail and that's why I don't work there any more
Advice to Senior Management – I like that it's a family business and the family seems to care about the business and employees. I felt proud to tell people I worked there.

Former Employee – worked at Abt
Pros – You get an OK employee discount.
Cons – To progress in the co, you have to have been there a long time: not based on qualifications. Terrible "bonus" structure. They play favorites. Salary is hardly competitive. They are great to customers but not to the employees. They create a negative and stressful work environment.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more positive toward the employees and recognize their contributions. Having a bonus that is taken away does not empower the employee to want to do better. Fairness in the department needs to improve. Recognize the positives!

Former Employee – worked at Abt
Pros – The bonuses are very generous, discounts are worth it in some cases. Family owned and operated means there is a 'feel good' attitude.
Cons – There is limited growth potential because it is family owned. There is a strict management policy and they run a tight ship.
Advice to Senior Management – Expand to other retail locations and try and offer more opportunities for growth for employees. Expand the market to other cities.

Former Employee – worked at Abt
Pros – Good for high school students but no one older than that. They pay better than most retail jobs. They do an excellent job with their customer service.
Cons – Everything is too high school drama and their is not enough room to move up in the company. The hours are flexible but good luck taking time off. They have great customer service but they really need to work on treating their employees with that same respect.
Advice to Senior Management – They tend to have their favorites and if you are not one of the favorites than steer clear.
