Pros
if you are willing to work hard and put in the time you will be rewarded with better shifts and advancement. the money is consistent.
Cons
can be a lot of work, constant chip and salsa refills and small beverage glasses can make you busy. if you want an easy waiting job abuelos is not the place.
Advice to Senior Management
promote from within the company, bringing in outsiders who have not worked in the restaurant they will now be managing is frustrating to employees.
Pros
The company can't decide what makes them unique besides good food and trying to have good service. There isn't anything really unique about what they are doing. The company really isn't going anywhere, one way or the other. The regulars can't even tell you why the place is special.
Cons
Above store managers show up very rarely, but when they do it's a nightmare. They can't really help out and they just tell everyone that they are doing the job badly. They have no marketing and sales are going down. Abuelo's needs to decide what they are really selling. Good food and good service is so 20 years ago. You need something more.
Advice to Senior Management
You better figure out where you're going or you'll be left behind. A hospitality driven company should be run by hospitable people. Family is more important than business.
Pros
good place to work for your college years and they will work aroung your college schedule as well as help you find a job later on.
Cons
They are very demanding of their mid level employees and hold them to a very high standard of excellence.they expect a lot out of you.

Pros
Good employee meals, atmosphere is rather nice...casual but unique. Management fairly competent but not always that flexible. They did allow for switching shifts out with other employee though. Good camaraderie amongst the service and kitchen staff at my location.
Cons
Some double shifts, especially on the weekends made for very long days. Sometimes management would not back up the service staff when it was time to cut a guest off. Expected to work a holiday that was your normal day off. Yes, I know that hospitality employees are expected to work holidays but this was July 4th and was my normal day of the week off. Nobody wants to eat Mexican food (on the Fourth of July) that just came out of a 400 degree oven on a 100 degree day in Texas. I was called in by mgmt. ("just in case"), my plans ruined, and sure enough, the restaurant was dead all night.
Advice to Senior Management
Not a lot of advice to give to management. They did a decent job most of the time. Training was adequate, especially if you've worked in a restaurant before. The dishes are not that difficult to remember.
Pros
Love the people you work with. Fun atmosphere. Good mangement. Thorough training and Daily meetings. Bonus pay and positive environment.
Cons
Unless management likes you its hard to keep the job. Favortism is a big issue, hard to move up unless you click with the GM. Girls are favored.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep more of an open mind towards employees needs and requests for time off. Its not a career for most but a job.
Pros
It was generally busy and the food is amazing.
Cons
Management lacks common sense and professionalism. Scheduling was a nightmare. Overall a frustrating job with not enough encouragement from management. Often times, management was downright rude and don't care about employees lives outside of work. They tend to hire anyone who applies, so the staff isn't always professional either.
Advice to Senior Management
Be professional and stop acting like children! Listen to your employees and lead by example.
