The only down side to working for the company was the hours, but its what to expect with any retail position.

Most customers are great to work for.

The HR department, have you seen the Office?

-Have to come in at 5 AM to do frieght
-The raises SUCK. I have been there for 4 years and have gotten a .95 cent raise all together
-Point system...If you have a doctors note for not being able to make it, you still get points
-Uniforms
-No benefits for PT
-Gets really busy during afternoon
-You cant take off during christmas and tax weekend
-Finding nasty things in fitting rooms
-Some people work really slow so you have to end up helping them
- managers may take thier time to walk your department.....
Advice to Senior Management
You should not have apparel doing showcase when none of us know anything about sunglasses, also each person assigned to a section should get thier clothes from the fitting room if its very busy
Pros
working with sports and out doors equipment plus discounts
Cons
my location was very strict when it came to scheduling
Advice to Senior Management
Be more lenient with schedules.
Pros
Private company with owners that care about the employee's and the community
Cons
Still growing and not a whole lot of opportunity just yet for advancement. They are opening a few more stores every year so it will get better in time.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a store director in training program so that outside hires that have store manager experience already do not have to take as big of a pay cut and have to step down to asm level in order to work for your great company.
Pros
Academy is laid back, it's fun, and has plenty of opportunity for growth if you work hard and are fair.
Cons
The retail environment definitely has its ups and downs...holidays are brutal.
Advice to Senior Management
Know your demographics and purchase items accordingly.

Flexible Scheduling...usually okay with anything as long as you can work on the weekends.
Everyone's pretty fun to work with.
Company is constantly expanding and growing. --If you strive for it, you can become a manager in training or at least a Team Lead.
Good discount - 25%
Get to move around...not a good job for someone who is not slightly active.
Cons
When closing you will be expected to stay until at least 10:30-11pm. (Although this depends on your managers...with a particular manager I was there until 1 am a few times).
Can be boring/tedious
Again, if you are not interested in a job where you are on your feet for 6-9 hours a shift, do not work here. Although I liked the ability to be mobile.
Advice to Senior Management
Please continue to be understanding when students need/request that they need more time to focus on school and school related activities.
Pros
the products sold are fun, customers are fun,not going out of business any time soon and is growing slowly
Cons
the customers are very messy , very needy, there is a ton of paper workk if you do it properly and they dont give you enough labor to get the job done properly
Advice to Senior Management
if you dont have a life outside of work and you like working late nights, like 1AM 4 OUT OF 5 NIGHT S THIS MAY BE THE JOB FOR YOU
