Pros
easy going, the managers are willing to be flexible with your school schedule. Pay is good for a high school student.
Cons
very rude customers sometimes. I didnt like the return policy since many people tried to take advantage of it. No one leaves until the store is pristine.
Advice to Senior Management
Dont take your job too seriuosly. Go easier on employees. Dont let your personal emotions on that certain day affect other employees
Pros
Fun people to work with.
Cons
Being a cashier is like jail... sometimes.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing.
Pros
associates make it fun even when we are all frustrated with the work load. pay is okay and discounted gear
Cons
work level high in short amount of time..hours were cut so there is very little time to stand around . i would like to be acknowledged more...
Advice to Senior Management
easy interview..try to work in hunting and fishing
Pros
Workers within the store itself do a fine job. Managers and Team Leads usually applaud good work. However, there is not much of an opportunity for advancement on merit. Most promotions are based on seniority.
Cons
The company is now controlled by KKR and is rapidly declining in quality and service. The corporate outsiders micro-manage with an iron fist, while raising prices left and right in (what is supposed to be) a discount store.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to the roots of the company that made it great. Go back to the original discounts, vacation pay, and lower prices. That is how you get skilled workers to stay for years, while working for minimum wage.
Pros
Customers were always extremely friendly and expressed gratitude for your services. Knowing which items were going to go on clearance was the best part of the job.
Cons
Management took a very strict attitude of "We'll find someone else" view of employers. This was not a high point in my life.
Pros
Good customer base and employee discount. There are opportunities for promotion if you can maintain a strong work ethic regardless of low wage and demotivating store policies/management.
Cons
Low pay/benefits for given responsibilities and work load (depending on department). Ridiculous store policies. High employee turnover, always training or dealing with someone new.
Advice to Senior Management
Doing a great job on the customer end but could greatly decrease employee turnover with better benefits/pay.
Pros
Great atmosphere, discounts, benefits, flexibility, room to move up.
Cons
some people are closed minded, not given credit for tasks completed and goals met, lack of communication from above.
Pros
Opportunity for advancement, co-workers, benefits.
Cons
Pay, the amount of holidays that Academy is closed.
Pros
Good pay Good Associates Growing quickly
Cons
Favortism Poor Leadership by Directors and District Managers.Constant complaints but no guidance
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize accomplishments and if you are not satisfied, explain why
Pros
Great people, benefits over time, discount, low prices, work around school schedules, fast paced, always things to learn. Little/no experience needed.
Cons
Long hours, late closing, usually minimum wage pay, mixed schedules, tardy point system, slow promotions, inconsiderate customers.
