I have been working at Accelovance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. An opportunity to provide ideas and thoughts that are incorporated into the growth of the company.
    2. An environment to be recognized for hard work and dedication to deliverables.
    3. (Mostly) friendly staff and supportive management.
    4. Increased energy and an environment where people want to succeed and grow.

    Cons

    1. Processes are being refined, which sometimes results in re-review of newly implemented changes.
    2. Executive leadership not as visible and interactive with staff members
    3. IT systems could be enhanced

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More investment in IT would be helpful, keep communicating with staff on good news, growth, and vision of the company (there are a lot of good things going on!).

Run Away As Fast As You Can From This Company

I worked at Accelovance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Absolutely None. The management styles are focused on humiliating and degrading employess at every opportunity and turning this company into a reincarnation of previous CRO where they were formerly employed before being bought out by Accelovance. The health benefits are horrible; there is no 401K match whatsoever; there are no sick days. The CEO has absolutely no background or experience in clinical research. Nepotism runs rampant.

    Cons

I can guarantee that the review posted in August 2014 was not written by an Accelovance employee. The other negative reviews posted on this website are completely on spot with describing the working conditions and culture of this company. In the one year that I was an employee- of the 30-ish employees based in the Rockville office - 18 have resigned or been fired (particularly hostile working enviornment for African-American women). Micromanaging, belittling, and underbidding contracts so that all projects are understaffed and thus all employees are demanded to work 50-60 hours a week every week is the norm. If upper management makes an error they are the first to throw their employees under the bus to the client sponors. They take responsbility for absolutely none of the company's problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire all current executive management. Bring in experienced managers from successful CRO's and BioTech who know how to lead, to inspire confidence, encourage employees to contribute their knowledge and expertise, reward innovation, encourage creative thinking and provide them with adequate resources to perform at the highest levels.

I worked at Accelovance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice coworkers, ability to work from home, you may have a good manager (depending on who you report to), due to understaffing issues you often have the opportunity to work cross functionally and gain experience in other areas

    Cons

Upper management has no concept of how much time it takes to complete a quality deliverable, they are more concerned with FTEs. Unrealistic promises are made to clients and project managers are left to handle the fall out with very little support from upper management who made the promises. Employees are given unmanageable work loads with no relief when asked. Unqualified employees are hired/promoted over other more qualified/harder working/longer tenured employees because they are friends/family with upper management or because they have learned to play the game to climb the ladder. Opportunities to attend outside training are rare. Pay is not up to industry standard and they hire on promises for pay increases and/or promotions that will not happen. An acquisition occurred and the acquired company came in and took over . Former Employees of the acquired company and new hires who are friends with upper management are allowed to work remotely yet long time Accelovance employees are not afforded the same options. The benefits are few and health insurance costs are very expensive compared to industry. Employee concerns are not heard and are treated with a "there's the door" attitude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to and value your employees. You have lost a LOT of knowledgable, hard working, good employees over the last 2 years. Each employee has loudly voiced their concerns and issues before leaving and none of them were heard. In order to retain good people you have to make it an attractive place to work.

I worked at Accelovance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you like being micro-managed and have your decisions reversed, this is a fun place to work. If you're into getting no respect from Sr. Management, this is the place for you! If your work style is to bully others into cooperating with you, this is where you want to work. If you are looking for a company where Sr. Management plays favorites, come to work at Accelovance!

    Cons

No systems or infrastructure. Poor and outdated policies and procedures. Terrible benefits!! Executive management is not visible, they can't be bothered to walk down the hallway. Communications is non-existent. So much micromanagement by the 2 clinical VPs. Staff won't speak up because they are in fear of being fired. Pay is lousy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the 2 VPs ad start letting people do their jobs. There are talent people at Accelovance, they just aren't allowed to flourish. Improve the benefits! Put IT systems in place, get some of the basic software that all other CROs have. Stop trying to be cheap.

There is a lot of opportunity to expand your personal knowledge and take on as much as you can on a project. This also results in opportunity to advance career wise.

    Cons

There is a lot of change going on in the company which sometimes leads to lack of communication.

The pace of work can be fast and sometimes chaotic as we try to exceed clients expectations

    Pros

Great for a person lacking professionalism, ethics or credentials and you can fly under the radar with their executive management teams inability to identify the issues from within the organization.

    Cons

Low quality deliverables, no training offered, unprofessional, unknowledgeable staff and management. CEO hires or promotes friends and family regardless of credentials and/or experience. Dinosaur aged solutions and management tools for projects, outdated systems, policies and SOPs are extinct. They can not retain or recruit real talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You will never survive in this competitive market!
