Pros
great people, good pay, a lot of diverse work experience. Ive been exposed to a few different fields since I started work here.
Cons
a lot of travel- you must be willing to spend a lot of time traveling. i travel every about week
Advice to Senior Management
great leadership thus far. its a huge company- hard to really be noticed. with more time and experience i will hopefully see more improvement
Pros
Wonderful networking opportunities, many opportunities to work with a truly global network. Great training and peers that are motivated to excel.
Cons
If in management consulting, the travel is intense. Additionally, the culture can be a little cliquish for those that join as experienced hires. The Accenture Strategy Practice also would like to think they are on par with some of the the premium strategy firms, but our Strategy Practice (not management consulting pracitce in general, which is strong) is pretty weak with big egos.
Advice to Senior Management
This year Accenture enforced a salary freeze on most of the workforce, except those that ranked as high performers. However, there are strict laddering policies which force a certain percentage of the population into the average ranking category. As a result, your first year at a new level often results in a "consistent with" ranking, which translated into no salary adjustment. As the market begins to pick back up, I would expect there to be some attrition as many of our employees may feel they are not compensated fairly.
Pros
Accenture has a great company culture. They have an excellent presence in the community and looks great on a resume.
Cons
I found it easy to be overlooked and used on a project as a space filler. You have to fight to get real work to do in order to have a decent yearly review.
Advice to Senior Management
Utilize the resources and talent you have within the company. Otherwise, people will begin to build disdain towards the company.
Pros
Mostly good people
Fairly good compensation
Good place to start a career
Cons
Culture of workaholicism
Promotions & raises are not based on actual performance but rather project performance and "who you know"
Advice to Senior Management
Create a mechanism for upward feedback
Pros
definitely a good place to work
Cons
there is no opportunity for growth
Advice to Senior Management
simplify
Pros
Excellent benefits especially while you are traveling. Many folks pocket their per diem and you can take personal vacations for the rest of your life with all the points and miles you earn from your hotel stays and flights.
Cons
Managers and above think they can control you by threatening your performance review which you get after finishing your role on every project. This intimidation is used to make you do things you ordinarily would not have to do, like skip a wedding to fly into the client's site early. Also you may get stuck in a city you dont like for months while working on a project or be relocated to an international office to complete an international project with less than 24 hour notice (you can say no, but there is always pressure to remain staffed on a project).
Advice to Senior Management
Treat those under you with respect. Borrow a page from other companies and try to look more after your people. The overwhelming consensus is that we can do with less benefits in order to have higher pay!
Pros
Can get lots of exposure/responsibility early on. Traveling and perks that come with it can be interesting.
Cons
Hard to break into (getting into projects, etc.) coming in as a new hire with no 'relevant' skills, also limits options. Ratings, etc. often depends on chargeability, which is often low for a new hire
Advice to Senior Management
More affected by offering group leadership than C-Suite level on a daily basis.
Pros
The work environment with Accenture is very young and full of talented people.
Cons
Compensation is terrible and the discrepency in salary between employees at the SAME levels is unacceptable.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to the feedback employees give and don't always think you know best. Try to come down from the ivory tower and put your finger on the pulse of the company so you can better understand how people feel.
Pros
Travel, On the job Training, Responsibility. Love the change. Felt like I had a new job every year. It great to work with people who are committed to working hard and playing just as hard. Did not compromise my Christian belifs.
Cons
The hours and work load can be immense!!!! You will take responsbility for your mistakes and you will fix them. Period.
Advice to Senior Management
.
Pros
You will work with great people
Cons
Pay structure is horrible even if you have experience. Must rub elbows with the right people in order to move up
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to give people a chance to prove themselves instead of dictating ones abilities
