Advice to Senior Management
Provide consistent and regular feedback to employees.
Pros
Good company to work for which is generally considerate of their employees, assuming your project allows for this. Some projects/clients, however, are quite demanding and can ask too much. The employees at Accenture are some of the best, and were always good to work with.
Cons
Some of the work can be relatively mundane. A lot of documentation work should be expected by new hires, and at the consultant-level you will be managing this type of work. Satisfaction can largely depend on the client you work within. Some of my clients were great to work with, while others were quite a drag.
Pros
Work and life balance. They support work from home initiatives which was a major motivator to be employed at Accenture.
Cons
Career advancement was very hard to come by. Stagnancy in current position wasn't unheard of. Climbing the ladder was not easy.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership should really evaluate current employee advancement opportunities. If you don't provide one, you will never know how much that employee can shine!
Pros
People at Accenture are smart and care about one another.
The company is doing well, which leads to great opportunities.
Cons
Most of your success is due to luck - getting the right role at the right time with the right people. It is hard to manipulate your own career.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the apprentice pool - let people figure out what they want to do and then enable it.
Pros
Coworkers can be nice and supportive when not overworked. Lots of online coursework available.
Cons
Expected to go above and beyond what was expected when first assigned to a project. If you don't keep up with tight deadlines, poor reviews. Expected to learn quickly to meet customer expectations. Long hours, lower pay, lots of offshore Indian coworkers with meeting times very late or very early. No tuition assistance.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve interview process before choosing developers. Not fair to expect more than known skillset. Don't just fill a slot and later have huge expectations. Great way to lose employees.
Pros
Challenging work,
Fast advancement based on performance
Great benefits, vacation and 401k vesting the day you start
Great people/peers to work with
Everyone willing to help when asked
Cons
Some groups or departments can be very politcal
At times, advancement and recogintion is based on who you know and dring with (especially internally)
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that the 'carrot' you labored for (Partner) is not the same or as desireable to most.
Recognize there are some in leadership positions who are not very good 'leaders'.
Pros
I have joined accenture last year. I have learned so many new technology in a year which I have not learned in last 10 years.
Cons
Short term project for working mother is just so stressful.
