Accenture Alliances Director:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Fairness

Pros

While it did not work out for me, Accenture is a very fair employer. The best part is being surrounded by intelligent competent people.

Cons

Feedback on performance is not very clear. They tend to skirt around issues and don't get to the heart of the matter in a realistic way.

Advice to Senior Management

Senior Execs need to communicate issues more clearly to people that work for them. Having said this, they are all very intelligent people.

Accenture Senior Manager:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

High caliber people - (almost) everyone is very smart with great follow through;
Interesting and challenging work - a great place to gain experience.

Cons

Average to below average salaries;
Excessively schedule driven culture which can lead to ridiculous deadlines, long hours, and challenges with quality of delivery;
HR function and processes are hopelessly bureaucratic and mired in "HR speak";
Employee reward system is too narrowly focused on top 5% leaving many very good employees with little recognition (or $) .

Advice to Senior Management

Gut HR and start over with something simpler, more direct and efficient. Be more inclusive in providing meaningful rewards and salaries to employees.

Accenture Senior Manager:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Great people - very high calibre
Interesting and challenging work
Very respectful and collegial environment
Company is run very well with sound top level decision making

Cons

Compensation not in parallel with expectations and amount of work effort
Bureaucracy around internal work and processes can cause delays for exceedingly long periods
Minimal time provided to innovate

Advice to Senior Management

Compensation needs to be improved substantially for the amount of effort we put in. Often working 2-3 people's jobs, especially with the amount of offshoring to unqualified resources (where we have to pick up the slack)
Bureaucracy is out of control. Common sense approaches are needed to unmuddy the ability to make rapid and appropriate decisions that are "no-brainers" and the right things to do
Provide key roles/players/experts with additional time and lower chargeability requirements to take part in innovation activities

Accenture Anonymous in Redmond, WA:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

Benefits, People you work with, prestige associated with the name

Cons

Occasionally work/life balance is poor, Senior management occasional forgets that "our people are our greatest asset", loyalty to the employee has suffered over the years

Advice to Senior Management

Cutting to save costs is fineand is part of business, but dont tell employees they are so important then let them go or chase them out. There are plenty of places to save oney besides employees.

Accenture Consultant:   (Current Employee)

Pros

The people are really great - overall very positive attitude. Not bad for a huge company, the internal processes are pretty solid and - though flawed - the yearly review process is very reasonable if you do a good job. A lot of very smart people and great opportunites to work with some big clients on technology implementation. All the management I came in contact with had a very good appreciation for work/life balance.

Cons

Pay is not competitive, despite what they tell you. Everyone leaves to go somewhere else for more money.
If you don't like IT systems implementation, you'll be struggling to find the business-focused roles - Systems Integration is the bulk of the work.

Advice to Senior Management

I would say that they should offer better compensation, but I don't know if I would if I were in their shoes... they have a fantastic brand and are a top choice for new grads, plus they are industrializing delivery, so they can afford to lose people.
