Pros
A lot of highly motivated and skilled people work for the company. Generally I had great Clients. Good Tools to to the job.
Cons
too many bosses. Client, the Accenture partner, your operating group leadership all have different priorities. Accenture is really good at convincing people that they would only ever be successful at Accenture.
Pros
Ability to do things that you can't do working within another organization. As a consultant, I have to have objectivity and provide options that sometimes would be in conflict if I worked for the organization, such as advising to close a production location or move a workforce. As an employee, that would be hard to do as a consultant, it is my responsibility to provide all the options.
Cons
Constant travel and ruthless workschedules.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should figure out how to align those who want to travel and those who need a break from travel with the work that needs to occur. I love what I do but if I have been on the road for 2-3 years straight, figure out how to give me some time at home. Also, if you are asking people to travel a lot for their career, help them with the basics such as managing tips for travelers, how to pay your bills more effectively, etc.
Pros
Benefits and Training programs for new grads is among the best one could get. Good company for young people right out of college.
Cons
Travel. Large bureaucratic organization. No place for older professionals.
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline and flatten org structure. Eliminate up or out in a talent constrained world.
Pros
Rewarding & generally exciting work. Sophisiticated yet nimble company.
Cons
Intense work at times and the work never ends, so I am always behind.
Pros
Big global Company
Vast Knowledge Exchange
Nice people
A lot of opportunity for a new grad or a career changer
Cons
Horrible work life balance
Up or out mentality too oppressive
Difficult to move around in organization, tend to be pigeon holed
Advice to Senior Management
Live up to work / life balance
Live up to improving peformance
You may be too big to adapt in the current marketplace
Pros
Great advancement opportunities, lots of training, good benefits and great people, You get paid while on the bench, lots of community events, up to 25 days of vacation, work laptop
Cons
sometime traveling gets old, you need to look for your own projects, work hours can get out of control, don't pay for overtime
Advice to Senior Management
Great work on communication and training, salries can be higher in Denver but they are competitive. Great promotion process evnt though writing objectives is a pain (but it's not their fault)
Pros
1. Intelligent, involved leadership in my group
2. Team members that wanted to do well
3. Opportunity to meet and work with other team members globally
4. Flexible work arrangements (very helpful with family)
5. Committed to Core Values (see Cons regarding a few exceptions)
6. Good training
7. Exciting work
8. Opportunity to have your opinion/perspective listened to
I joined as an "experienced hire" into the Enterprise Workforce. I was challenged by "lifers" but quickly accepted and welcomed to the team as I proved myself -- nothing different than I had expected and had experienced at my previous job.
I enjoyed working for Accenture and would work for Accenture again given the right opportunity (cannot say that about my current employer). Left for family reasons (to be closer to my family).
Cons
1. A few Senior Executives who felt it was permissible to treat others with a lack of respect or to actually state falsehoods during evaluations (however, out of probably 200 + Senior Executives that I worked with, this was limited to few than five)
2. Pay
3. Work/Life Balance (however, in reality this is not significantly different from my current employer)
4. If you not "consulting" you are treated as a second or third class citizen (seemed that some in Management were attempting to address this but it still existed)
Advice to Senior Management
Salary need to continue to be aligned to the contribution made; Incentive compensation must be understandable if it is going to "incent" performance (interestingly, Accenture wants clearly defined expectations and asosciated rewards in its contracts but fails to provide this to their employees); make even outstanding Senior Executives adhere to the Core Values regarding Integrity and Respect for the Individual -- afterall, if they are willing to lie in Performance Evaluations in order to grind their axes are they also willing to lie about their own performance or that of their projects?
Pros
Large company
Good pay
Good benefits
Potential exposure to new technology and multiple business sectors
Cons
No traiing plan for new hires
Exceptionally high turnover
No staff development plan
Overworked management
You are on your own
Advice to Senior Management
Stop moaning because your new hires have difficulty assimilating into your culture and figure out how to place them on an engagement so they can learn your business
Pros
Great experience as a new hire out of college
Cons
No work/life balance. It's talked about but not proacticed
Advice to Senior Management
List to your employees
Pros
Lots of smart, engaged and enthusiastic people to work with.
Cons
Legacy partnership superiority mentality that some Sr Executives demonstrate.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue developing and promoting resources based on merit; coach leaders who don't do that.
