Pros
Great opportunities to expand knowledge, technical and business
Great people to work for and with
Feel like part of team
Cons
You have to self promote to the point of seeming arrogant at times
So big it can be hard to find where you fit
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up good work.
Push for more local small groups, places to feel connected to local office
Pros
good job environment. plenty of opportunities. support from higher management. give good salary. nice place to work . high performance delivered
Cons
there is some bureaucracy. higher management may play politics to move you accordingly. little openness. Long working hours is the worst problem.
Advice to Senior Management
higher management is just sitting and doing little. It is the lower level that does all the important work and higher management takes away the credit
Pros
- Benefits were well above average
- Lots of internal training
- Flexibility (depending on project)
Cons
- Salary is well below average
- Managers / Senior Manager incompetent
- Very little appreciation for hard work
- Cult like culture
- Managers have "favorites"
- They do not value higher education
Advice to Senior Management
You need to take a hard look at the manager / Sr. Manager level as people are getting in those positions and doing a terrible job. Accenture is a great place to start your career but the only people who seem to stay in it for the long haul are those in the "in crowd" or those who wouldn't be employable anywhere else. I do encourage people I meet who are just out of college (undergrad) to submit their resume as you can learn a lot and it's great for the resume but not a place for a life long career.
Pros
Great Technology, Many Opportunities, Always work to be done.
Cons
Hard to have a family and work here.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not assume that your employees want to work 14 hour days and get paid for 8.
Pros
If you want an environment where you have the ability to move from one project to the next and build upon your skills, then it can be accomplished at Accenture. You must be willing to work for it of course and always express and seek what you want out of your career. Otherwise you'll end up at the same level for years with little pay raises. The Senior Mgmt that I've come across has been nothing but supportive and approachable. I worked at a struggling tech firm prior to Accenture so it could have only gone up from there. But even with that in mind, I honestly haven't had to work for a major a-hole. Every employee gets 5 weeks vacation which I think is the best thing since sliced bread. You're actually able to take a week off at a time and not kill your PTO balance. Career development training is available and can be used to your advantage to study for certifications.
Cons
The pay for some consultants is lower than some analysts, which I don't understand. Best bet is to never accept the first offer. Always ask for more.
Long work days. Some projects are on such a time constraint with not enough resources you will be working several 10 hour days.
Reviews and ratings causes you to feel the need to always outshine those on your level on your project so that you are ranked higher than them.
Advice to Senior Management
employees need better bonuses
Pros
Great place to work, opportunity to advance
Cons
There is a little disconnection between the Account Leads and the resources available within Accenture .
Advice to Senior Management
A little more involment on getting to know people and their capabilities within the team, so they know what resources they have available to fulfill request from clients.
Pros
Huge assets to learn
Ability to network with others to get answers
Cons
The performance management system
Salary package
Pros
Benefits, compensation, core values, training
Cons
very few professionals over 40 that I have seen
Pros
Worked with some great people that I've maintained a lifelong friendship with. Great contacts and the Accenture name on your CV seems to impress other employers.
Cons
There was very little opportunity to rise up the management chain unless you had a fairly successful manager to tag along to.
Pros
Networking an opportunity for growth and development.
Cons
Glass ceiling keeps people from growth
Advice to Senior Management
Good. Very good.
