Pros
great projects, good professional development support, smart people to work with
Cons
long hours, lots of off shore and away projects, 80% travelling, not a good place to be if you are married
Advice to Senior Management
offer some alumni outside the UK, an option to come back in diffrent locations as the knowlegde is still there.
Pros
Variety of projects
Benefits
Colleagues
A good place to start graduate career, work for a few years, learn from those around you and then move onto a specialist consultancy.
Cons
Often forced to take projects with no interest to increase chargeability
No overtime - need to be seen to be putting in OT - expexted
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Large programmes and the size of the firm means there can be lot's of diverse work on offer. If you like to work away from home and travel to the far flung parts of the UK, week after week, then Accenture might be for you.
Cons
A recognition structure that's biased against technical contributions. There are VERY few, if any, technical people in senior positions. At some point you will need to contribute sales and win work to be promoted.
Non-technical people managing technical staff does not work. They inevitably vent their frustrations on the team whose careers suffer in turn.
You wil not like everyone you work with. It can be very cliquey with those groups only ever promoting from within. And some people will do whatever it takes to get ahead of you.
Advice to Senior Management
Use several career models that fit the diversity of staff that work for the company. The old style partnership model is getting rapidly out of date.
Pros
Lots of different openings, and a wide variety of work can be available. Some great training available in the IT area.
Cons
Can be difficult to leave projects, and Accenture will put you on projects you hate, without any difficulty. Lots of SI work.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate better with the workforce, and treat them as the most important part of the company, rather than just paying lip service.
Pros
The best reason to work with Accenture is the pay currently, it is very good from the moment you join.
Cons
None what so ever really
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Good environment for growth. Friendly community with continuous effort on personal tailoringbof your career. Very good exposure to senior management
Cons
Not many opportunities for breadth of industries - pegionholed in one industry/sector. Not very competitive in terms of salary compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Have to become
more flexible in letting employees get a more general exposure to other industries/sectors. Have to be able to accomodate people wanting to be mobile across geographies.
Pros
It was a very exciting job and good position. they helped me with my career and now i am in much better position.
Cons
they train you well but not enough. i think more trainings must be done to counter this and make employees happy.
Advice to Senior Management
take care of the employees and dont treat them as rubbish. they are as worthy as anything else. its about time you make it right.
Pros
Good role opportunities, you'll be able to work with clients at levels that go beyond your years of experience.
Strong team attitude within Accenture team
Good pay when first starting
Cons
Very fixed career progression model - difficult to move ahead of track despite continued excellent performance
Pay is only moderate once beyond first year or two
Advice to Senior Management
Remember the meaning of meritocracy - you claim this is how Accenture works, but it simply isn't. Forced distribution of grading, pre-laddering meetings.....
Pros
Opportunities to work for big names across the globe.
Opportunities for training
Cons
Poor performance measure, not based on ability and effort but on your connection with the management.
Solution people are downgraded by pay and by promotions.
Long working hours.
Easy to be laid off.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to respect individuals and to recognize their real effort.
Pros
Working on Accenture solutions, at the beginning of your career gives you the oportunity to access very interesting clients/projects. The complany offers a good starting salary and great facilities for employes.
Cons
The ladering can be quite unfair and is ridiscusly dificult to go up, it depends more on the circunstances of the project that on your real abilities.
Advice to Senior Management
I think that the ladering process should be taken care of, and more recongition of people with great tech abilities should be made.
