Pros

Networking
Power of the brand name in the market
Cons
Fabulous skills in discriminating without leaving evidence
Experienced hires should stay away from MCIM
No Godfather; no career, no progress! - talent and skills are not relevant to progression
Advice to Senior Management
Do you really know what is happening in the middle management? Don't believe what you are told by Senior Managers - find out for yourself.
Do not let Senior Manager misrepresent on employee profiles while bidding for business.
If redundancies are not based on performance, why doesn't Accenture reach back to those who were made redundant when recruiting again?
Pros
Wide range of projects, if you can get on the right on you are likely to engage in some exciting projects.
Cons
Very large company means it's easy to get lost in the crowd. Communities are built project centric rather than fluid.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand senior management should engage better with more junior colleagues would help improve morale Amongst staff, otherwise not a bad place to work
Pros
Variety of projects
Benefits
Colleagues
A good place to start graduate career, work for a few years, learn from those around you and then move onto a specialist consultancy.
Cons
Often forced to take projects with no interest to increase chargeability
No overtime - need to be seen to be putting in OT - expexted
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Good opportunities to develop, excellent support structure and great intranet and knowledge base. People are bright and enthusiatic. Promotion well explained
Cons
Long hours, work-life balance not really a consideration and role preference is not taken into account when joining a client
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Great clients, great people to work with, great career development, great learning opportunities. The worlds most challenging engagements, leading edge and the finest grounding in how to plan and execute transformational change programmes.
Cons
Tough work \ life balance. Long hours culture. Away from home 80% of the time. Fine if single. Not good if married and want to see family.
Advice to Senior Management
Proactively seek whether any of your alumni may wish to return to Accenture having spent time in industry or other consultancies.
Pros
great projects, good professional development support, smart people to work with
Cons
long hours, lots of off shore and away projects, 80% travelling, not a good place to be if you are married
Advice to Senior Management
offer some alumni outside the UK, an option to come back in diffrent locations as the knowlegde is still there.
Pros
Large programmes and the size of the firm means there can be lot's of diverse work on offer. If you like to work away from home and travel to the far flung parts of the UK, week after week, then Accenture might be for you.
Cons
A recognition structure that's biased against technical contributions. There are VERY few, if any, technical people in senior positions. At some point you will need to contribute sales and win work to be promoted.
Non-technical people managing technical staff does not work. They inevitably vent their frustrations on the team whose careers suffer in turn.
You wil not like everyone you work with. It can be very cliquey with those groups only ever promoting from within. And some people will do whatever it takes to get ahead of you.
Advice to Senior Management
Use several career models that fit the diversity of staff that work for the company. The old style partnership model is getting rapidly out of date.
Pros
Lots of different openings, and a wide variety of work can be available. Some great training available in the IT area.
Cons
Can be difficult to leave projects, and Accenture will put you on projects you hate, without any difficulty. Lots of SI work.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate better with the workforce, and treat them as the most important part of the company, rather than just paying lip service.
Pros
Good environment for growth. Friendly community with continuous effort on personal tailoringbof your career. Very good exposure to senior management
Cons
Not many opportunities for breadth of industries - pegionholed in one industry/sector. Not very competitive in terms of salary compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Have to become
more flexible in letting employees get a more general exposure to other industries/sectors. Have to be able to accomodate people wanting to be mobile across geographies.
