Accenture Systems Integration Consultant in New York, NY:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Corporate Culture - relaxed, and open environment that values sharing of information, ideas, and experience.
People - motivated individuals who aren't antiquated in their thinking. Open door policy all around at all levels

Cons

Over promising on project timeline estimates without taking feedback from other similar projects or lessons learned. Seems to be an issue on every project regardless of industry, capability, custom/prepackaged software, etc.

Advice to Senior Management

Look for ways to better communicate with people honestly and provide visibility to peers on what other people are doing at their level early in the performance cycle. Provide concrete and measurable examples and targets for people to reach and base reviews on that, rather than perception of roles/accomplishments (compare apples to apples).

Accenture Consultant in New York, NY:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Opportunities abound if you know what you want and can work at it. Benefits are good. Very digital company - make things easier and flexible. Very nice people to work with - knowledge sharing and collaboration is strong. Opportunity to lear if you can make the time for self study.

Cons

Salary tends to be low even though it's comparable to other companies in the same industry. Very limited tuition re-imbursement - place to much premium on internal learning opportunities. Tend to place too much emphasis on extra curricular activities when it comes to performance ratings and promotions.

Advice to Senior Management

Can do better on salaries. Most importantly, the tuition re-imbursement policy should be considered. I can't really understand why a company of Accenture's caliber will place such a low emphasis on enabling its employees to get advanced degrees. Of course if you come in with advance degree they love it but they don't enable you (at least not directly) once you are in already in. Career management (promotions, ratings, etc.) can be improved.

Pros

Out of Fortune 100 firms, 90 firms are Accenture's clients which provides vast variety of Clients and hence ability to work with top clients

Cons

Pay is not the best if compared with peers. Benefit program needs to be improved. Most of the work for Technology is outsourced.

Advice to Senior Management

Pay needs to be comparable with competitors. Restrictions on hiring only US Citizens or Green Card holders should be reviewed

Accenture Consultant in New York, NY:   (Current Employee)

Pros

- Accenture Marketing Sciences allows you to feel like you are working in a small company within a massive power house.
- Develop impressive quantitative skills that will be transferrable to other industries
- Good camaraderie within the practice
- Work across multiple industries gives one great exposure at early stage of your career

Cons

- Salary below market, no bonus
- No emphasis on developing communication/presentation skills (Consultants can perform sophisticated analysis but can they effectively communicate results and offer recommendations?)

Advice to Senior Management

- Address pay issues.
- Emphasize more well-rounded consulting skills to augment impressive quantitative skills

Pros

You might get the opportunity to travel, some of the people are great to work with, good career model if you suck up to the right people

Cons

management does not know anything about project management, partners are the dumbest people on the planet, lots lots of overtime

Advice to Senior Management

Accenture Technology Consulting Manager in Florham Park, NJ:   (Current Employee)

Pros

I find total compensation to be fairly competitive with peers of mine across the country. Due to the harsh economic climate, existing programs are being reinstated to help with the firm's bottom line such as flex leave and extended leave. It's hard to complain about treatment of regular travelers when things are so tight.

Cons

I sometimes struggle with the lack of communication even within my skills group provided to managers and below. It shouldn't be the case that so much guessing is taking place as many of us are looking for new roles! Sometimes I wonder if the purpose of frequent internal re-organization is to keep HR occupied.

Advice to Senior Management

Have fewer messages get channeled through HR! I enjoy the regular communications from Bill Green. I'd like to see this coming from other senior firm posts as well.
