Pros
Lots of PTO, the opportunity to work at different companies doing different responsibilities.
Cons
It's very sales driven without too much emphasis on work quality or innovation, if you are an engineering type and really want to make a mark by building something that will have an impact on society- then don't work here.
Pros
Lots of smart, young people
Lots of time-off
People are supportive of allowing you time off
Lots of different clients
Lots of responsibility, early
Cons
Very low comparable pay
Poor health benefits, expensive premiums, low choice
Few projects that don't involve ERP, at the end of the day
Poor attention on it's people-its a giant public company
Performance reviews are confusing and secretive
Partners think of their paychecks before their people's
Advice to Senior Management
Pay competitive salaries
Focus on making sure that people are developing the way that they want to develop
Pros
Working here looks great on a resume for other companies
Working from Home so at least you don't have to be face to face with everyone all the time
Pretty good Benefits package overall
Cons
LONG HOURS
No regard for work-life balance
Competitors pay more for same roles
Ambiguous guidelines for upward mobility
Favoritism and Politics abound
Treated like crap for the most part, unless you're a "Partner"
Advice to Senior Management
There really is a HUGE disconnect with all the layers of Management and line employees. The internal structure needs to allow opportunities for growth and mobility beyond just the Management Consulting practice. Sr. Management needs to do a better job of recognizing its operational employees.
Pros
Working from home is great, but the ability to do that varies GREATLY across the company. Highly depends on who you report to, which workforce you are a part of and which area you support. Work can be interesting, they are very big on training. You get a lot of paid time off, but not everyone can truly use all their days (work life balance is truly dependent on your situation, as specified above).
Cons
Getting promoted can be VERY difficult. In certain groups there is a lot of favoritism, complete lack of work life balance. The rating process is crazy (don't expect a good rating to get your promoted or a good increase, especially in this economy). There are a lot of office politics (also depends on who you work for). I've worked in various areas within the company and my experiences have varied GREATLY.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to retain talent, don't be so afraid to promote people.
Pros
Learn fast, lot's of responsibiltites
Cons
Pay is low for the hours
Advice to Senior Management
Take care of people more
Pros
Nice work life balance
Good benefits
Excellent Training
Cons
Can do with a bit more of up or out
Should hire more folks from the top consulting firm to drive experience for new hires
Advice to Senior Management
Keep removing the fat
Pros
Overall Accenture was a good place to work. It opened many doors for me in future job opportunities and I learned a lot.
Cons
Promotions were difficult but fair.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to improve work life balance however overall you are doing a good job. Maybe offer more work from home opportunities.
Pros
Incredible talent - no dummies
Opportunities to learn and grow
Rapid promotion
Great clients
Input into project assignments
Strong top leadership
Every one is a people developer
Cons
Survival of the fittest- sink or swim for experienced hires
More understaffed/ overscoped projects than expected
Annual performance reviews- ratings and peer rankings
Compensation is slightly lower than competitors
Advice to Senior Management
Improve assimilation process for experienced hires
Pros
Great clients, travel monday to thursday
Cons
No work life balance. It always about work, high performance
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Good brand for resume
Lots of affinity groups - GLBT, Asian, Black, etc
Fun social events
Interesting work
Cons
Partners showed favoritism
Promotions not always fair
"ghosting" of hours
Long hours on the road
A few incompetent people slipped in the door and if you had them on your team you had to carry their workload
Projects very often are under-budgeted in order to win the work
Advice to Senior Management
Don't undersell work then expect team to ghost hours to get it done
