Pros
Great new job
Good learning experiences
Cons
Work life balance is not there....work & work
Advice to Senior Management
Estimate properly and hire the right & enough people
Pros
Extremely smart people working on some of the toughest technical challenges. Wide range of products that you can potentially switch to if something strikes your fancy.
Cons
Company is slowly getting bloated in terms of # of people and pace. No longer is as agile and fast paced as it used to be.
Advice to Senior Management
Though it is important to provide job security etc for your employees, you shouldn't be afraid to cut the bottom of your employee pool in order to maintain maximum efficiency.
Pros
Project choice
Strategic problem solving approach
Lifestyle
People
Cons
Convoluted portal makes support services/benefits difficult to access
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up!
Pros
Great place to work and great place to start a career. Management seems decided to grow its Management Consulting (vs. Technology consulting) practice.
Cons
Travel can be hectic but this is true for all consulting firms. Sometimes get stuck into PMO roles
Advice to Senior Management
Retain your talent and work
Pros
- challenging projects
- brilliant teams
- robust knowledge sharing
- excellent training
- independent working style
- reputable company
- top of the line networking/social activites
- top grade work/life balance
- tons of vacation time (I have 5 wks per yr - consultant level
- values junior resources
Cons
- compensation (Accenture will not negotiate - my process consisted of 4wks back & forth. I ended up taking a pay cut because I really wanted the opportunity)
I'm happy nonetheless
Advice to Senior Management
pay your staff more - retention would be MUCH better.
Pros
Exposure to wide array of software and technologies only if you get into a right group.
Fast paste environment.
A lot of young fellows coworkers
Cons
Very low salary - I was making 25,000 first year, 32,000 - second year
There is no life/ work balance if you want to advance your career.
You are on your own to gain experience.
There is a great chance to work on a project supporting outdated technology.
Advice to Senior Management
If you pay peanuts, you will get monkeys to work for you....
Pros
Accenture is a difficult place to work. You will be surrounded by smart people and the training opportunities are decent. There are a variety of interesting projects to choose from.
Cons
Burn-out!! Accenture is extremely short-staffed and rather than hiring more people they're making existing employees do the work of 2 or 3 people. Also, if you're an experienced hire, your ideas won't be valued in the same way as the people who came in straight out of college. The culture at Accenture is horrible, morale is lower than at any company I've ever worked at. Also, they are just about the cheapest company I have ever encountered.
Advice to Senior Management
You say that people are your most valuable asset, you should start acting in a way that demonstrates that. If you want good people to stay, pay competitively and stop burning your people out.
Pros
+Opportunities to grow
+Ability to work with top companies
+Global opportunities
+Accenture Development Partnerships
Cons
-Bureaucracy
-Average pay
-Some projects are poorly run
Advice to Senior Management
Good place to start career but its a hit or miss as you grow within the company
Pros
The "core values" that the company heralds are truly taken to heart within Accenture. It is a company that fosters the idea of hiring and training so that it is one of "best people."
Cons
Depending on your idea of "work/life balance," it could prove to be difficult to accept this position due to the constant travel time. Being an analyst here requires travel Monday-Thursday.
Advice to Senior Management
It seems that a great deal of time and money is wasted by people who wait several weeks to roll from one project to another, and something should be done to fix this.
Pros
Interesting consulting projects for Fortune 500 companies.
Cons
New joiners need wait some time to get staffed.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior executives and managers at Accenture are very intelligent.
