I have been working at Accenture full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Started with Accenture as part of an acquisition (non-Consulting). I was skeptical at first. There are A LOT of weird/strange/stupid polices at first glance. Some definitely are stupid. But many start making more sense as you learn about the company history and understand the challenges involved in managing 300,000+ people. After a trial period, I can honestly say I like really like it here!

    - Many people get to work from home full or part time. This is an incredible benefit, and should be pushed for or inquired about when joining (see other rant in 'Advice to Mgmt')

    - Pure Technical chops can get you staffed on good/cool projects but....

    - Being and outgoing person can help you network and find great advocates.

    - Fantastic vacation package for NA resources.

    Cons

    - Many things do NOT make sense about the company as a new joiner. Improve the training. Focus on calming people's nerves who are new to the craziness.

    - Review process is flawed. Everyone hates it. A company this prestigious shouldn't have these kind of problems. Maybe Deloitte can rewrite them? (save $$$!!!)

    - Pierre (CEO) seems like a bobblehead doll and doesn't seem to really do much besides pose with school children and other random employees. Not really a CON, just an observation. Show him doing some real work or doing something non-happy sunshine smile smile happy feel good. It will help people at the bottom feel C-level management is working hard too.

    - Some actions I've seen being taken that are causing good talent to flee. It makes me nervous, and that's why I have to mark neutral on the company outlook.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Improve new joiner training. Help people who have never been with a 300,000+ person company ease in better.

    - Fix the broken laddering process. It breeds contempt amongst employees toward each other and management.

    - Get in the trenches and imagine what it is really like to be a high performer working on the bottom of the totem pole. Would you want to stay here if you were underpaid and being passed over for promotions due to politics?

    - Have the board vote for Pierre to do that undercover boss show or something so he can be more useful.

    - Allow more people to work remotely, worldwide. PLEASE keep in mind how much this improves quality of life for your employees, and how much they save on commuting costs. Lync is fantastic! Do a big 'green' campaign talking about Accenture reducing carbon by taking XXXXXXX number of workers off the road bla bla bla. The PR peeps will eat that crap up! Also means less $ to shell out for office space, and more $$$ to retain good talent!

    - Stop bringing in outside talent and placing them over qualified people who are already in place. Train those people to be managers! Send them to manager boot camp in that place that everyone hates.

    - Trim fat on unnecessary MD's and middle management, not on good talent!

I worked at Accenture full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    * working in teams with other smart, highly motivated people who had much to teach to others on the team
    * working for (often) large clients with big, vexing business problems that (often) required creative problem solving (in addition to the expected analytical and quantitative focus)
    * opportunity to grow and to have your ideas adopted by the organization -- although Accenture is a large multi-national corporation, it is run very much like a smaller firm
    * senior management will take the time and listen to more junior staff -- a good idea is a good idea irrespective of the source

    Cons

    * travel can be strenuous -- often out of town for months (albeit home on weekends)
    * Incessant deadlines -- seems like something "due" every week
    * long hours particularly around client deliverables (deadlines)
    * long term advancement dependent on ability to sell services (not something required of more entry level staff) -- point is that the focus changes over time and may/may not appeal to someone depending on their skills and expectations

    I worked at Accenture

    Pros

a lot of paid time off and in general pretty flexible about working from home

    Cons

Staffing process was frustrating, difficult to get staffed on projects that fit your interests; got pressured to take boring admin/ops roles constantly
performance evaluation process is pretty terrible; rewarded "serial club-joiners" and networking suck-ups

I have been working at Accenture full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work with bright people
Ability to choose your own career path
    Career growth potential

    Cons

Compensation not Competitive especially for home grown resources
    Hours can be gruesome

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I know that Accenture wants to attract good talent by over-compensating Experienced Hires, but maybe you should think about compensating your home grown talent fairly in order to keep them in the first place.
