I worked at Accenture full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    People. People. People.
    Varying opportunities.
    Ability to move up fast.
Get to think - challenging business/IT problems to be solved with/for clients.

    Cons

    Travel. Travel. Travel.
Continuing focus on margins putting too much work on the client/project executives.
Pay is competitive vs. a premium for the long hours, travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The consulting lifestyle needs a premium to offset the cons...just being 'at market' allows for top people to continue to leave.

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Working at Accenture has worked for me. I ahve been part of some wonderfully varied projects and that has enabled me to add value to myself while adding to the companies bottom line. I ahve gotten to work with really talented and smart people for the most part. Navigating through the system here can be tricky and I can see why people have the opinions they do, but it has worked for me! I appreciate the support that the company has given me with respect to flexible working hours when I needed it.

    Cons

The promotion process can do with some change; salary hikes are very negligible even for high performers. and the bonus- dont even mention it!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be more competitive wrt salaries; It motivates high performing individuals to leave an otherwise perfectly good working opportunity.

    Pros

People are amazing to work with and furthermore, they are extremely intelligent. You'll learn a lot of different skills and meet the greatest of clients.

    Cons

Poor leadership skills for those leading the businesses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote those who work hard not those you know so well personally.

    Pros

    - Flexibility
    - Good benefits and lots of emphasis on ethical behavior at all levels
    - Some opportunity to change career emphasis

    Cons

    - No Personal Life
    - Job placement and reviews (laddering) are based on which Senior Manager is in "your court"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good onsite chances, job security if u have joined from fresher level,

    Cons

Work is not competitive, many manual testing protects,no promotion or hike in Indian salary when u are in onsite, laterals get double salary package of what I get staying from fresher level even though having same amount of experience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If u can afford good salary for laterals, why do you ignore employees who are present from fresher level.. Don't let them go by offering better salary

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great opportunities to gain experience at a broad range of companies and in a wide array of industries. That's what makes this such a great place to work if you don't know what you want to do with your career: you get to try out a lot of different jobs and discover what you like. There are also great international travel and work opportunities if you seek them out.

In my experience, the work-life balance is what you make it. If you actively seek out projects that have good work-life balance, you'll be able to find them. If you want to put in tons of hours, you can do that too.

The time-off policy is great: 25 days Paid Time Off (PTO) for everyone, even new hires, at least in the consulting workforce. There are no separate sick days, but with this much PTO, it's hard to even use as much as they give you.

Also, the people at Accenture are awesome. Diversity is a high priority, and it makes for a great place to work.

    Cons

The annual review process can get a little political, but I think this is common pretty much everywhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I know it's a huge process, but the annual performance cycle could use some work. I would have LOVED to see 360-degree feedback, but that wasn't the policy when I was there.

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Variety of work.
    - Ability to pursue your own projects.
    - Learning potential seems limitless
    - Training opportunities are always provided to those that ask
    - New project opportunities are always provided to those that ask

    Cons

    - Performance rating methodology leads to collateral damage. Lots of people that are supposed to get promoted, unfortunately do not.
    - There are 280,000 employees worldwide. It could seem like partners don't care. In reality they do, but unfortunately, given the size of the company, there isn't much that can be done.
    - Really talented professionals tend to leave the company because of the performance review process. Which is unfortunate, because not only do you lose a friend but more importantly, someone you've learnt a lot from, have decided to move on.
    - The competition and stress might get to you. It completely depends on your character.
    - Clients can sometime treat you like crap because we're working for them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Although difficult, the performance review process and promotion process should change. The company has a high turn over rate because people want to move up the ladder and don't. Often, the people that know more people get promoted, as opposed to the one that deserves it more.

Partners bonuses probably are really big. I would recommend sharing the wealth with those that help you achieve success.
