Great place to work overall initially in the career but not long term

Senior Manager (Former Employee) Florham Park, NJ

ProsGot a chance to work with diverse group of people. It provided a number of opportunities to grow professionally, technically and overall.

It provided good training and provide good support in case one falters. The firm expected a very can-do attitude. There was a serious attempt to ensure that everybody gets frequent feedback on performance and show where they stood in the performance.

ConsUp-or-Out policy in consulting. Very strong requirement to know right partners if one wants to become partner. The consulting culture was cut-throat forcing people to continue to grow or get out.

The ratings were quite a bit dependent upon the personality of the direct manager on the project. If he is not strong, he could not defend you in the ratings call.

Very margin focussed. Employees are considered just a number. Very quick to give the people pink slip.

Advice to Senior ManagementReconsider up-or-out policy at senior manager level. Show a clear career path to grow.

Good place for internship, but not the best.

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsGreat people and good managers who care about your personal development. Good internship program with lots of social and professional events with other interns. Very generous pay for interns. Accenture works with you to find good location that's right for you. There is a weekend trip to the Accenture training facility for all interns, which was really fun and a good way to meet other interns and get a feel for what training is really like for full-time employees.

ConsInternship program doesn't always place you on projects that are close to what you would be doing after graduation. Also, a lot of interns are not given enough assignments so you have to search for something to do to fill your 8 hours every day.

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce amount of red tape and bureaucracy.

    Objective review of Accenture

Level C (Former Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsIt is a large company that offers employess a number of different options in potential career paths. There are industry segments availabe that allow employess to pursue areas of interest. The company offers substantial benefits in terms of leave time and health care options, so decisions regarding vacation and medical provider planning are easier. As Accenture is a global company, employees often have the opportunity to work with and interact with resources from around the globe. Many resources re-locate to other cities for a specified period of time for cultural enrichment and skills enhancements. Opportunities to move in other areas are generally encouraged.

ConsThe size of the company sometimes makes individuals feel more like numbers than valued employees. There is an occassional disconnect in management understanding of staff needs.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management should take the time outside of the annual employee survey to gain a stronger understanding of staff support needs.

If you're ok living in any of the 50 states for months at a time, go for it!

Analyst (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsThe culture is great, they're committed to diversity, it's a global company with the prospect of working anywhere in the world.

ConsThe actual work is very low-level for an analyst - frequently you're forced to to administrative or clerical type stuff, or data entry. Also, you're frequently forced to work on projects in awful places - suburban office parks are the backbone of the IT world. Get your bags packed for rural Alabama -- it's a possibility.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow more choice in what industry or work type to which analysts are aligned. I was forced to do SAP work and told I couldn't switch to any other work until I got a promotion. How is one supposed to get a promotion (after two or more years at the company, no less) working in a field they hate?

Great for a few years to learn the ropes of this industry

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsBrand name...plenty of resources to leverage from...lots of PTO days and opportunithy to take expensive vendor training

ConsWork/Life..Comapany tends to oversell to clients and roll-on inexperienced people which often leads to one person doing everybody's work. New Hires are usually bad at their job...Accenture should put more emphasis on keeping good people

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your analysts/consultants like Managers because they are full capable. People that have been with the firm longer than 5 years (regardless of level) should be treated better because new hires are unpredictable and usually poor at their jobs

    ACN is worth it!

    Manager (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsACN pays very well and is a great place to work. The work arragements are flexible.

ConsToo much work at times. They have no quams about asking you to cancel a vacation if work is left to be done.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to communicate your vision to employees and treat them as a number 1 resource.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
