    Pros

I worked for AI for 3 years and it was great. While at past internships in publishing I was paid minimum wage to fetch my boss lunch and amassed barely enough money or experience to cover parking or beef-up my resume. At AI, I contributed to real projects with supervisors who were excited to take my suggestions and who valued my work ethic enough to compensate me. Everyone at AI is friendly and open-minded, including the CEO, who will often walk around the office to ask you how you're liking your work and to crack a few jokes.

    Cons

AI has a fabulous internship program for college graduates, which allows each intern to rotate through several different departments (sales, marketing, editorial, etc.) However, these slots are competitive and go early in the summer!

    Advice to Management

    Keep doin' you.

    No opinion of CEO
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

AI does offer a competitive benefits package and also offers some scattered incentives for employees like gift cards and awards for jobs well done.

    Cons

There is a not a lot of room for individual ideas, despite the lip service paid at brainstorming sessions and group get-togethers. The management does the thinking and the ground team does the work, and there are really no pretenses about it. This leads to a poisonous atmosphere in which everyone gets along when they're face to face, but behind closed doors the animosity is barely contained. The elitist attitude among upper management is so prevalent as to make the whole company laughable.

    Advice to Management

Either trust people for their ideas and let them do their work, or be honest about the fact that this is a top-down operation with no room for growth because management runs the show and is not looking for new blood.

    Pros

Good CEO; good environment; decent benefits; good support staff; would have stayed longer except for the daily dose of stress.

    Cons

It's a small pond with too many big fish, and some of those fish are maneaters! The office politics make it tough to stay focused on the mission.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone below the rank of CEO and replace them with actual leaders.

    Pros

Out early every Friday by 3 p.m., wonderful work/personal life balance, ability to work from home, great benefit package, learned a lot on the job and took my ideas and ran with them. Great collaboration however sometimes work load is piled on with skeleton crew.

    Cons

Some managers appear to skate by and by that I mean letting their employees do their work while they just sit back and take the credit. It seems some managers are there and just do the limited amount of work with out any recourse from higher ups. The office is also very quiet. No one talks to each other except during office events, which are always fun, however during normal work hours no one talks to each other and can make the day drag on and on. I applied for a position in another department and was told while they understood I wanted to take on a another role, they felt that it would hurt the current department i was in if i left. Felt there was very limited room to grow.

    Advice to Management

Keep track of your managers who take the ability to work from home for granted. Some would say they are working from home but some how appear to be unreachable by phone, emails or texts. Sometimes is appears that your employees are work harder than managers and it just seems to fall in the cracks, creating for a tense work enviornment.

    Pros

Executives and Upper Management, are fairly easygoing, and friendly, yet professional and very busy. So, its not at all a weird work environment. In my time with the company I considered many to be friends.

    Cons

Some of the time I felt an eerie silence, whereas not enough was going on. The truth is there weren't many cons.

    Advice to Management

It was an unforgettable learning experience, as well as a quite entertaining place to work.
