Brisbane management - abysmal, IT equivalent of a third-world country sweatshop

I worked at Access Testing as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

They deal in numbers and recruit/place testers into organisations that are in need of multiple testers. You'd have to be pretty ordinary not to get a start - but you still need to have some idea of testing protocols to be retained.

    Cons

You will find yourself getting considerably less in your paypacket compared with other agency contractors. But that doesn't mean that they charge the hiring organisation a lower rate. They are up there with the likes of Paxus, Peoplebank etc for their quote - the company just pocket more money for themselves. And they have some VERY bad policies for what they will do if you work overtime. Beware finding yourself doing eg only 3hours O/T - that is insufficient hours for them to deign to pay you (but they will still pocket the money)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some respect and value your best asset - the people out there doing the hard work and who are responsible for putting the money into management's pocket and allowing them to have wonderful overseas holidays.

I have been working at Access Testing

    Pros

good people to work with. multiple locations in HK, sydney, melbourne, canberra, brisbane. good government clients. Stability of employment compared to other companies.

    Cons

low salary, small size compared to other testing companies, no meaningful training for employees, no opportunities for skill development, better off being a contractor than work here

I have been working at Access Testing

    Pros

Good perks related to Medical and Retirement benefits.
Very efficient HR practices in place, along-with a good set of Senior Management, which know the work and are well versed with the current Markets and situations.
Healthy employer-employee relationship is maintained. Regular reviews and knowledge sessions, along with the option of appearing for Professional Certifications at company cost.

    Cons

Worksheet maintenance can sometimes be cumbersome. But is currently a necessary evil, as we work more on contractual jobs, which require the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a need to expand to other areas like Security testing, which is becoming a major part of any organizations business needs.
