Current Employee – been working at Accolo
Pros – Flexibility, vision, drive, potential, intelligence, no BS, fun, beautiful environment, family, freedom
Cons – budget, somewhat early days, not too much.
Advice to Senior Management – Incentives drive extra effort passion. Rewarding employees equitably on salary and relative to company success will make them dedicated forever.

Current Employee – been working at Accolo
Pros – good office location, nice people, decent work-life balance. There are also some really nice people here
Cons – lack of direction, egos of senior leadership (relying on past successes not what they can do NOW), lack of opportunity, boring work, nobody is willing to stand up and take responsibility for problems, overzealous about what we can actually do for our clients. This is not some place I would recommend for someone looking to really be challenged, stimulated or have a career path.
Advice to Senior Management – take responsibility for the major client issues and work to find resolution (innovation anyone?)

Current Employee – been working at Accolo
Pros – The openness to new ideas and respect shown to all employees is great. The culture at Accolo is driven by John and the rest of the executive team to reward people for taking chances while allowing for mistakes. Fun group of people in the Larkspur office and across the U.S.
Cons – Being at a small growing company can be an exercise in patience with ever changing priorities and budget challenges, but this is to be expected at a small company.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on one or two things that will grow the company most and don't try to accomplish everything at once, this will allow employees to focus and finish well.

Current Employee – been working at Accolo
Pros – Visionary CEO
Compelling work environment for strong performers
Unique business model that is evolving for the better
Cons – Lack of vibrant hiring economy still impacting overall company growth...though we are told new business is growing faster than ever
Initial deployment of Hiring Consultant Network has some kinks to work out but has great potential
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on how to compensate Hiring Consultants more for harder to fill positions
Accelerate development of the platform....best ATS available in the market but under marketed
Focus even more on client satisfaction

Pros – Accolo pays Hiring Consultants (contract recruiters) for recruiting-related activities completed which is a boon for those who've worked contingent assignments that fell through the cracks. Accolo is a Recruitment Process Outsource company which means they manage the recruiting process for companies who pay a nominal fee up front. Accolo Recruiters get paid even if they don't place a candidate.
Cons – One of the many caveats of working for Accolo is their client base is unsophisticated, B/C player types of companies who haven't worked with Recruiters before and are using this service to save money. Accolo management is over worked and overwhelmed and are tantrum-prone.
At Accolo, good recruiting efforts are not recognized or rewarded beyond an unsteady paycheck. Accolo management purports the recruiting process to run itself and Hiring Consultant Recruiters need only manage the process. Half of the time it doesn't and management fully expects Hiring Consultants to direct source when candidates don't materialize just as they would for an assignment that pays 20% commission except here, Recruiters don't make but a very very tiny portion of that.
Bottom line, working for Accolo is too much work for too little money. Accolo management treats Hiring Consultants as expendable and clients are regularly verbally abusive and rude plus there are no benefits or any other advantages to working here.
Advice to Senior Management – Accolo management says they value their recruiters but their actions prove they don't. They are completely client-centric to the point of alienating the people who serve those clients. Now that the economy is improving, it will be interesting to see if Accolo management makes any effort to keep people.

Current Employee – been working at Accolo
Pros – The level of enthusiasm, energy teamwork and shared knowledge is very unusual. There's nothing like working with a professional team of all 'A' players. Kudos to the Founder and CEO for creating a 9 year old "start-up" environment that also obviously cares about it's employees.
Cons – None that I have experienced over my 8 months with Accolo. I know that the company had difficult decisions to make when the recession affected the hiring market - and there were a few employees that weren't able to handle it with grace. From what I saw, the CEO and management team handled all professionally.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the great focus on external growth and the internal culture.

Pros – Great technology, some very good people to work with at the low and mid levels.
Cons – The senior leadership team is in shambles. The good guys left, the CEO has completely lost touch with reality and as a result the financial situation is pretty bad. Actually, I don't know if it's bad - they don't tell us the financial numbers anymore (it used to be a weekly thing). I don't trust the exec team anymore.
Advice to Senior Management – It's time for Accolo to take a hard look at the CEO seat. The company needs to grow up, and it's not going to get there without professional management.

Pros – Accolo has a rare combination of a compelling vision, fantastic management, phenomenal team and highly supportive work environment. I have never worked with a company before where issues ("stucks") are so openly shared and solved by all. We believe that we succeed or fail together, and the more we trust and support each other the better for all of us.
The key will be to maintain and encourage this dynamic as we grow, and I believe that will be possible. This is, by far, the best place I have ever worked. I feel lucky to be part of something that has the potential to have a positive impact to so many people.
Cons – As the market has crashed and companies have all but stopped their hiring, it's hard to see people being laid off. That being said, it's rare for the CEO himself to actively help the people affected find other opportunities. What a great company.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the information flowing and thanks for being so open and direct.
