Pros
Great learning experience, fast paced environment, work hard and able to keep sense of humor, gave outstanding recognition to top performers
Cons
Limited growth without relocation, sometimes working in branches felt isolating when corporate would require new reporting or production expectations, did not feel they actually spoke with people in the trenches to see what was going on in specific markets, same attitude when it came to the systems used, etc. It seems to have become more of a quantity vs quality of production in last year or so of tenure
Advice to Senior Management
Ask the employees outside of the branches closest to corporate what is going on in their specific markets, each region/market has it's own challenges in being as successful as they would like, many out of their control and make decisions based on real, pertinent information. Overall, I loved my time with AI, so there is nothing too glaring that comes to mind.
Pros
Excellent Benefits and work/life balance/ PTO
Excellent flexibility for working own desk
Clear expectations of performance
Open door to management
Company cares about it's employees; you're not just a number
Cons
No clear career pathing
Sink or swim training program
No place for a rookie trying to learn the business
Advice to Senior Management
Need better training & onboarding programs
Pros
They have a great reputation, caring managers who care about their employees, fair compensation, open communication with local management. Overall great company to work for.
Cons
Since being acquired by Randstad there hasn't been alot of communication to branch level and between brands. They look at seniority more then anything, which is a huge downside.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at the people you have and look at performance.
Pros
Small company feel, everyone knows everyone, including CEO. Everyone's nice to everyone, with only a few exceptions. Good quarterly presentations, giving a good overall snapshot of how the company is doing. From what I've heard from the CEO, it seems like he knows this business as well as anyone. If I wanted to have a chat with him, there is ample opportunity to do it, and I don't get the feeling he would be offended by direct feedback from a lowly employee.
Cons
Small company mentality, especially those in management that have worked here for a decade or more. I've come to believe it's because they can't work anywhere else, or don't want to now that they've built their little kingdom and have full control over their job function. Those are the people that have an inflated sense of importance, and feeling of entitlement over others new to the company. This would only apply to the Corporate Headquarters in Burlingame, not the field offices.
The quarterly recognition just seems like a rotating plaque that eventually gets to everyone, or a way to recognize people without actually giving them the money they deserve. Like a shout out will make up for long hours and low pay. It's pointless fluff.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to recognize employees who've gone above and beyond, write them a check. Nothing says thank you as well as money. Save the tacky plaque, as those of us at Corp aren't salespeople who need that kind of validation or resume filler.
Pros
This company is highly ethical, and feels like a small company even though it is owned by an international corporation. As a temporary and direct hire recruiter for Accounting and Finance professionals, AI works to match the right person to the right opportunity. The commitment of management to all the employees, both temporary and permanent, is real and always visible. Also, my boss is awesome!
Cons
AI's parent company is currently in the process of merging with another international staffing company, and therefore certain things are in the air. As a National Field Support person, I feel fairly secure in my position staying around, but nothing is guaranteed at this point.
Advice to Senior Management
Please continue to recognize and celebrate each employee as part of what makes AI a great company to work for.
