Pros
Accountemps is the #1 account representative of a major corporation where I work.
Cons
Absolutely no pay increase after years of service at the same assignment; infact a paycut of approxiamtely 12% was initiated in April last year and Length of Service Bonus was increased to 2100 hrs = 1 year of uninterupted service. Basicly after years of dedicated service (we) are making less money than when (we) started.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication with the people who work hard for your Shareholders.
Pros
Accountemps a good temporary agency to work for in the accounting or finance field. I never have to wait ling for a new assignment. Infact, I have only worked on one assignments the entire time I;ve been employed. I am still working on the same assignment since I signed up that was in June of last year.
Cons
Lack of paid vacations, benefits
Advice to Senior Management
I think that management is doing a pretty good job. It's a temporary employment agency.
Pros
Salary good, benefits are nice
Cons
Coworkers not easy to talk to
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you do
Pros
job market is tough at the moment
Cons
lack of transparency with salaries
Advice to Senior Management
transparent salaries, more feedback on raises and negotiation
Pros
Quick finding jobs and easy interview
Cons
no benefits or upward mobility
Advice to Senior Management
don't place people who are over-qualified just to make a sale
Pros
In a good economy, you'll be able to get a job as long as you are able to be flexible in terms of pay. You get solid experience on the resume and even though any of these jobs don't teach you any valuable things for your career, at least as an entry level, your work background becomes much more attractive.
Cons
The pay at the start if you don't have major experience is not great, considering you don't get benefits. Things are not coordinated well between the company and its clients, and sometimes you are amidst of walls, hidden within your cubicle wondering if there is anything else you could be doing.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a better understanding of the assignment and communicate this to the temps. Try to transform an assignment into a short-term program that gives the entry-level temp more valuable experience.
Pros
Experience at many different types of companies, take on a project, complete it, and move on. Not bored anylonger.
Cons
Every office rules are different. Personnel not terminated by now, have been around awhile, and lack the energy I was used to, they are lazy. No positive feedback. The sales reps send me out on an engagement, and do not have a clue what the clients needs are. They have not scoped out the project properly. As I was told, the reps just want a body at the client and the SPS team wants to go in prepared, which does not co-exist. No follow-up thru the engagement, and they do not listen to the consultants, when we reach out to the sales team, to interface with the client for mutual good.
Advice to Senior Management
Cross training the sales rep with seasoned consultants. Provide sales with an accounting professional who knows the questions to ask, before the engagement starts. Develop a client initial questionaire, for the sales rep to use.
Pros
Easy to get work at the low end of the scale. Basic competency is enough to get you great reviews.
Cons
The pay is generally not very good. They have an incentive to get you into a job as soon as possible rather than get you the job you want.
Advice to Senior Management
None.
Pros
Worked as "salaried professional":
Pay was fair; benefits very decent, and included training, parking reimbursements
Cons
Pushed to take assignments I was well qualified for, but could not complete due to client requirements for travel, etc. Was completely mislead by Accountemps about need to travel (amount was grossly under represented), pushed to do it anyway somehow, and told I'd be term'd if I could not meet client need.
Advice to Senior Management
None - no reason to hope the company would change.
Pros
The did have a great training program for someone fairly new in the business. They do have a strong reputation. Some say a good one, others disagree. They do also offer a competitive benefits package. They have a large loyal following and do have an endless database for you to make calls out of all day if that is what you are after.
Cons
They are hard core in your face numbers, numbers, numbers. If you want to work in a place where you are "just a number" then this is the place for you! Did I mention "cookie cutter"? This place is only for cookie cutter robots.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to your employees and not treat them as just a number.
