Pros
All of the full time staff at the local branch are commited professionals who work tirelessly to keep the consultants busy and accuratly match thier skills with the requirements of the customers needs. They also help consultants (temporary workers) in finding full time positions.
Cons
Much of the work provided is temporary and very short term in nature. This can lead to times of unemployment during recessions.
Advice to Senior Management
Accounting Principals needs to offer training opportunities to thier contract employees to enhance thier value to customers and increase the likelyhood of placing them perminantly.
Pros
I was given exactly what I asked for in compensation/interview negotiations. They had a solid bonus structure, and I liked my office.
Cons
They moved me to San Francisco, promised me the world, and then decided due to the economy they needed to close the branch 4 months after I accepted the position. They put me in a terrible situation, and their short sited management made a huge impact on my life, which I am still recovering from years later.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire managers with experience managing a business, watching a bottom line and turning a profit. Do not simply promote recruiters into management and trust that because they could staff for their clients that they can actually manage a business. My "manager" was in WAY over her head (and is still with the company 2 years later....)
Pros
~ above average pay rate
~ opportunity for vacation time
~ automated processes for time sheets
~ everything available on line
Cons
Overall communication between people at corporate office could use some work - one hand didn't seem to know what the other hand was doing. There was also no plan to assist in finding work for people who were moving out of state - no opportunities for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
When there is an employee that has worked contract for more than a year and they are moving out of state, there should be some sort of assistance with finding another contract position in the new state or city. There was no policy in place to keep a good employee with the agency.
Pros
Staffing industry in a tough economic market, margins in some markets off, but you can make a good living.
Cons
Leadership in some geographies needs to be improved due to the economy, you have to really take a look at who is the management staff; what are your opportunities, and what strategy are they working on for the marketplace. There is a lot of competition, how are they differentiating themselves truly....some management top notch, others need to go and really take a back seat to others that are much more strategic and know the industry trends.
Advice to Senior Management
Who is working your strategic plan? Why are your divisions so divided, why not work together so that you can internally become more productive?
