    Pros

Excellent business model, if were executed by individuals who knew how to develop it.

    Cons

Poor structure, poor management and extremely poor leadership.

    Advice to Management

If you surround yourself with people who know what you don't, how will you know when they're wrong??!!!

    I worked at Accretive Health

    Pros

They have a decent benefit package and it is a steady paycheck. Occasionally offered overtime. I enjoyed those I worked with.

    Cons

The management team doesn't seem to appreciate their employees and does a lot of micromanaging. The pay is okay, and the only way to move up is to be friends with management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and promote those who have earned it. Take time to have a meeting with the lower level employees without their management so you can get a pulse on what the true issues are.

    Pros

    • Entrepreneurial culture for salaried positions. • You have freedom to uncover issues, expose them and develop action plan to resolve. • Good pay if salaried, better pay if you are a man. • Decent benefits, time off.

    Cons

    • Back stabbing by AH colleagues – Keep your friends close and your enemies closer at Accretive Health especially if you work in the shared services environment. Your front end counterparts will throw you under the bus to clients every chance they get. • Lack of team work – Regarding the back stabbing above, too many AH hospital leads work against their shared services counterparts. Instead of working on issues between the AH employees first, the front end AH leads prefer to lie and miscommunicate information to the client about the shared services areas, in order to try and evoke trust from the client and not shared services. If I were the client I would seriously be worried about anyone who back stabs their fellow co-workers instead of working on issues privately and then showing a united front. It would decrease my trust in a company that does not foster teamwork and allows such bad behavior. Instead AH promotes those people. • Technology is a JOKE - Accretive Health states this on their website: "Leading-edge, proprietary technology and data science” Neither technology or data science is leading edge. Technology is very simple, one dimensional at best and when flaws are discovered they are usually ignored or bandaged for a short fix at best. The system is not compatible with Epic, which many clients are transferring to. • No consistency with training programs - Training for some is OJT, for some a few days, for some two weeks, sometimes six weeks. • Lack of communication between upper management, front, middle and back ends. Who is responsible for what is a complete mystery. • Too many Silos - Again, lack of communication and too many hands in the same pot working on the same things but it is unknown who is doing what. If working on a project there is probably many different people working on the same thing but one would never know because there is no system of communication. • No consistency with HR rules - The area that I last worked at allowed hourly individuals to terminate whoever they wanted to with no proof of the bogus reason for termination. Other individuals that should be disciplined or terminated are able to continue doing as they please if they are not on the bad side of the hourly individual who is able to fire whomever she pleases. • Favoritism and nepotism runs rampant - See above. • Off shore work - Too much work is being sent off shore where the individuals rarely understand what they are doing due to high turnover and a lack of training. Off shore individuals need very specific and detailed instructions for each project they are sent, even if it is the same project they do on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

    • Open your eyes and take notice to what is going on in your work areas, bulling is rampant and you are losing good people by allowing the bad ones to rule. • Just state the financials... • Emad - Why don't you go out into the field and interview the hourly employees as well as the Operations Leads and Senior Leads...they know what is really going on.

    Pros

Easy to balance work/home life. Consistent hours and decent pay for being a call center. Modest attempts at promoting good work culture.

    Cons

Did not value individuals. Poor middle and upper management. High turnover. Overly focused on metrics instead of a high quality of work.

    Advice to Management

In order to have a good workforce try offering better wages and benefits to attract a higher quality individual. Would help with performance and turnover.

    Pros

Some of the employees on the front line are great.

    Cons

If you are lazy and careless, managers give you less and less to do. If you're smart and conscientious, they work you to death. Also, Teamleads come and go frequently and there is no consistency in leadership. Worst professional working experience of my life. Couldn't wait to leave this depressive working environment.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together and treat your employees with respect.

    I worked at Accretive Health

    Pros

Great people - learned a ton about rev cycle and my team members really are good friends at this point; exposure to new technologies (important from a career mobility perspective); varied projects at times; management does care and are finally starting to invest in personal growth; C-suite has potential but sales team unable to deliver - the firm continues to lose clients but is unable to sign any new ones

    Cons

Depending upon the client site, you can fall into a monotonous hospital operations role in which you learn nothing at all and the learning environment becomes stagnant. Many of my colleagues have left the company for this reason. Less pay than competitors. No tuition reimbursement benefits unlike other firms. Management has started to invest in professional growth ONLY after myself and peers threatened to quit. Industry is booming, Accretive is not. Competitors will continue to overtake us if firm does not adapt quickly (admittedly, I don't have the answers here).

    Advice to Management

Invest in learning/professional growth or you will lose your best consultants. Explore other avenues besides the end-to-end rev cycle management. It's clear this was a great business model 5-10 years ago, but hospitals no longer want this (due largely to consolidation - healthcare systems can manage many of these challenges internally). Adapt or continue to lose business to competing firms.

    Pros

Accretive Health is good US based healthcare company which deals in hospital billing most and some what physician billing. compensation program is highly competitive, and our benefits are designed to give our employees security and balance in both their professional and personal lives. The culture at Accretive Health consistently encourages professional growth and career development. Employee engagement surveys promote open communication between employees and upper management, ensuring Accretive Health remains a rewarding and collaborative place to work.

    Cons

though Acccretive has all these positive points to work but when it comes on learning parts it fails on that grounds. Growth of an employee depends here on his or her supervisors mood, that is very nasty. Here there are many culprit Managers who didn't bother about the employee benefits but to himself.
