I worked at Accretive Health full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    1. Ability to work from home, flexibility
    2. Salary
    3. Benefits including vacation time

    Cons

    1. Not a start up but acts like one still, even with talented staff who have good ideas / skill sets
    2. The organization, as a whole, and the IT department leadership team is dominated by males. There is only 1 female at the exec level within the entire organization and she is in HR.
    3. Staff aren't truly held accountable for the responsibilities based on their titles or job descriptions
    4. Management doesn't seem to value their staff despite what they "may" say

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Stop looking out for yourselves individually.
    2. Understand who your staff are and what their abilities are
    3. Remember there are other jobs out there, and they aren't hard to find

    Pros

    Good location, benefits are great.

    Cons

There are now policies. Daily tasks change every there is no consistency whatsoever. Everyone is fearful to lose their job..morale is horrific.
It appears as no one really knows what is going on including directors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have some real conversations with people. Don't leave them in the dark. Start making some operating procedures policies.
There are way to many young managers that can't manage. They are fantastic employees and work really hard but their managerial skills are sub par. If they are placed in a Manger roles with little to no experience managing people you may want to invest in some training, mentors etc.

I have been working at Accretive Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

NOT A ONE. If you need a job very bad and have nowhere else to go, this is it.

    Cons

There are really too many to name. They underpay and overwork their staff. They bring in these kids straight out of college who have no idea what is going on to supervise and have no idea how to supervise anyone. The health benefits are horrible. No job security none whatsoever and absolutely no room for advancement. I have no ideas where these so-called "great reviews" are coming from; I'm assuming from management, cause they sure aren't coming from the support staff. If you google Accretive Health, they are ALWAYS in some type of financial trouble. The layoffs have already cut the Chicago staff down to an EIGHTH of what they used to be and probably down to a quarter overall. I honestly believe they won't be open for long. If the SEC, FBI, IRS, FTC, FCC or some other 3-letter organization doesn't shut them down soon, the MIB: Men In Black will. I give it 2 years max.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire Supervisors who know what they are doing, instead of hiring your sister/brother's kids and/or your kids' babysitter or your neighbor's sons/daughters or the paper boy. They are driving what could be a really great company straight into the ground. A company is only as strong as its foundation and/or its biggest money-makers, which happen to be your lower-level staff who are leaving in DROVES or looking to leave soon. If they are unhappy and leave, who do you have left to supervise and to make the money to pay YOU?

    Pros

You can gain great healthcare/client facing experience through this career.

    Cons

A lot of people are promoted because they "talk the talk" and spend the majority of their time figuring out how to best showcase themselves/their work, rather than focusing on how to best serve the client as work together as a TEAM.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on being more organized and having true open dialogue with your employees.

    Pros

Only transport facility is good nothing else you cann't expect.

    Cons

Training is not good, poor floor support, bad appraisals. No action plan to resolving the issues. It's good manager can listen u but they will never take the action on issues. Promotions are fixed for good face peoples and personal relations. Reporting managers don't think about the individuals what they think how they can save there job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ops. Management should think about the performers. There should be career growth plan for every individual. IJP should be transparent. Needs to work on trainings part. They should create a possitive environment not a negative or frustated peoples.

    Cons

Terrible management, benefits see not affordable for a family, terrible training. Management has NO ethics, there rude & condescending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow growth for your billers & follow up, there's no room for advancement. Teach management what ethics are, provide them with training in how to speak to people & treat everyone equal.

I worked at Accretive Health part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training program, worked with other college business students, great potential for monthly commission bonuses, good location

    Cons

Very strict office culture, not much flexibility with schedules once they were set, senior leadership seemed secretive, not much room to move up post college

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management could be much more flexible and laid back, need to create a more relaxed culture to attract younger talent, needs much more transparency to ground-level employees, commission structure could be more fair.
