    Pros

Really motivated people make Accruent an exciting place to work. The company is still small enough that anyone can make a huge impact. Merit based promotions motivate employees to do their best.

    Cons

I can't think of any at the moment. They do expect you to work really hard if you want to advance, but I don't think that is a bad thing. If you are into a very structured system of how you can expect to get raises and promotions this might be a con.

    Pros

    Open PTO and flexible schedule.

    Cons

Low pay for long hours. Start with super low salary saying if you work hard, you'll get exponential raises and promotions. Only top 10% actually do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're taking advantage of your employees. Only the top 10% benefit from your salary structure. This idea would work even if you paid employees closer to industry standard.

    Pros

Accruent is well on its way to becoming the dominant force in its sector. It's CEO and founder, Mark Friedman, is executing a bold vision. Having taken this company from his living room to being the go to choice for real estate management software for retailers, higher education, and wireless. Working for Accruent has a way of including you in that vision and along the way you'll work with some truly bright minds who bring good energy to the workplace.

    Cons

Accruent is executing a long term acquisition strategy, acquiring competitors to improve their market position and increase the customer value of their offerings. This introduces change often a couple of times each year that is both exciting and demanding. You'll need to be agile and ready to adapt to those changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Much of your directives are coming from Vista. They bring some great programs, but you need to know when to recognize the value to be found in your front line. Take hold of the insights gained there. Foster it. Allow it to influence your execution.

I have been working at Accruent full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Accruent likes to hire people it identifies as HPLE, "High Potential, Low Experience". It's not easy to get a job here but once you do there are lots of opportunities for advancement. It's a great place to get experience, whether you're changing careers or looking for your first job. Seems like many non-entry level jobs are filled by promotion from within when possible. The company is growing like crazy which means lots of new positions opening up and numerous opportunities for promotion.

    Cons

I can't really think of anything major to complain about. Like many small-ish companies, benefits are not as rich as some larger companies but they are quite good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch out for increasing turn over. When HPLEs get a couple of years of experience they will be in a position to shop around for significantly higher paying jobs. A 50% raise is very realistic and very tempting for many people.

I worked at Accruent full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked with Accruent fairly long time. Accruent is definitely one of the best place I have worked. It is a company with one of the best and knowledgeable professionals. Accruent is currently on right growth trajectory financially. Accruent is expanding in terms of its strength and heavily recruiting for entry level positions. Accruent provides abundant opportunities to entry level employees to excel and get promoted to higher level. Entry level employees with good balance of leadership and communication skills grow faster in Accruent. Accruent's CEO is committed to invest in entry level employees. Accruent's value system and culture is very supportive to its vision and mission.

    Cons

Accruent is investing less in experienced professionals who work with company. Accruent is software product company with array of technically complex products. Accruent also needs experienced technically strong professionals to keep itself on self-sustained growth trajectory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to C level executives is to balance the strength of energy and experience and provide equal opportunities and training for experienced and entry level employees to grow with the company.

A place to learn, grow, and be challenged while impacting an industry.

I worked at Accruent full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you're looking for a place with a grand vision to get behind with a desire to change an industry and impact people in a positive way, then Accruent is a great place to be. The software you will be working to improve, implement, and support helps the largest companies around the globe manage their real estate and facilities better which saves them money and time.

If you're looking for a place worthy of your time and effort with the expectation to grow, learn, and build relationships then Accruent will deliver. It will be challenging, as software usually is, but the projects you will be involved in are difficult but can also result in a huge amount of learning opportunity and growth.

As a whole, the company is committed to this growth at personal and professional level for their employees. Commitment to improving the company by growing the employees starts at the top with Mark, the CEO and continues through the leadership team on down to the newest employees. My time there resulted in several development classes, mentoring from my peers as well as my manager, and many new and unique challenging opportunities to test my skills in the working environment.

This also leads to a fun culture and environment. Along with the focus on the employees comes the focus on the office itself and the environment. The office is open with plenty of light, plants, and color. The break room is great with lots of games and plenty of room. I really enjoyed the chance to play a game of ping pong with my coworkers over a break.

    Cons

The aggressive growth of the product and company can lead to some challenging priorities and choices as everyone is pressed for time while trying to deliver on company commitments and objectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on your employees and challenge them while giving the valuable support and direction needed to succeed.

I have been working at Accruent full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Company places a heavy emphasis on results and motivation, offers great training for those without experience. This can be either a job to start at and get some experience, or a company with which you can advance your career, it all depends on how much you want to put in to it.

    Cons

The pay is slightly less than some other similar jobs/companies and they don't negotiate on starting salary with someone coming straight out of college.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the training on the programming and development software is not current or could be more solid. Everyone in the department is great though.

    Pros

Most of the people are great - intelligent and nice.

    Cons

There was a large disparity between executives and "other." The executive team in Austin have large window offices - with desk area and sitting area. Everyone else is in a smaller than average cube.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of your office. You aren't THAT much more important than everyone else.
