Good place to step up and take a leadership role, but you are on your own!

Current Employee - Audit Manager in New York, NY

    Pros

There is opportunity to make your mark, to take the lead, if you are willing to do so. There has been substantial turnover, and as with many consulting firms, due to the market place, alot of fat has been trimmed off the bone so to speak. In that kind of environment, you can step up to the plate and make a difference.

    Cons

There is not alot of communication and coordination between central administration and those out in the field. There are rare opportunities to meet and mix with collegues in other divisions of the company. You need to be willing to work on your own or in small groups. You do not get many chances to talk to people outside your team to get a pulse on how things are going elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Provide better communication to those out in the field, provide more opportunities for staff to feel more like a part of the company, rather than part of a division.

    Pros

Different client engagements offer variety of work. Flexible hours when needed. Virtual company so not going to the same office every day.

    Cons

Working as a virtual company can make teams feel isolated from rest of company. Can go without knowing who others in company are. Company owned by a private investor who will probably sell one day so makes feeling secure there hard.

    Advice to Management

CEO all talk, but little action. Some leadership doing a great job and make it worthwhile, while others don't and make working on their team a bad experience.

I worked at Accume Partners full-time

    Pros

Provides the tools needed to meet client needs. Management very knowledgable in their field and can provide advice and guidance when approached.

    Cons

Poor management oversight of staff. Does not properly plan out hours to adequately complete job, thereby forcing staff to complete jobs at home without recording the extra required hours (poor planning/billing). Below average benefits. Advancement for individuals if knowledgable on Sales, not audit.

    Advice to Management

You can reduce high employee turnover by not short changing project hours. Create career paths for managers to advance within the company.

    Pros

There is a tremendous amount of room to make your mark and to get recognized; brilliant, incitefull CEO

    Cons

Low brand recognition makes business development a challenge; need website content; limited resources; tight client budgets do not allow for developmental opportunities; private equity investors keep whacking CEOs (3 that I can recall)

    Advice to Management

Focus less on billable hours than on delivering sustainable value

I worked at Accume Partners as an intern

    Pros

Really flexible on hours and very nice people. Worked from home, yet still had a paid salary. Everyone there is welcome to help.

    Cons

Only con is that if you don't like internal audit, it could be slightly dull.
