    Casual dress would be great!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even if people aren't managing a person, you can promote them to manage a product or department. This is the best way you'll keep people.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pleasant and rewarding work experience, great staff, helpful and knowledgeable associates, experienced managers.

    Cons

some lifting, standing for long periods during the shift, sometimes not enough associates staffed to stock shelves on stock days, sometimes not enough associates on duty to serve customers, who may have to wait. Store well stocked but cluttered in some areas with too many non-hardware items.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider more flexible schedules to have maximum associates on duty during peak periods, such as 4 or 6 hour work schedules to cover these peak sales periods.

I have been working at Ace Hardware

    Pros

Stability and good benefits. Paid Time Off is amazing for most hourly employees. New CEO is agressive and company is really a leader in the industry.

    Cons

Only career advancement in certain tracks. Most positions are very high pressure. Work/Life balance isn't very good at any level, though they do try.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the people. Create career tracks for top performers. Good people leave because they can't get anywhere.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great learning experience. Clients are unreasonable for working in a hardware store. A lax job as clients mostly came at peak hours and the rest of the time is spent wasting time.

    Cons

Clients are unreasonable for working in a hardware store. Management is lackluster and does just enough to keep their job and is quick to criticize others.
