    Pros

Ace provides a good work environment, with decent hours and pay. Management is very flexible with time off requests and work with their employees as much as humanly possible to make sure they get the time off they need and still get the hours they need. Also employees and managers help each other out when helping customers find items they are looking for or figure out projects they are working on. Also ace does offer good insurance.

    Cons

It is hard to focus on the work for each day because Ace requires their employees to drop what they are doing to walk up to customers and ask if they need help. Then to lead the customer to the Isle that the product they are looking for is at. That makes for good customer service but makes it hard to focus on getting freight put away in a timely manner and merchandising and facing shelves. Also the only real way to move up in the company is to become a manager. Pay raises aren't very good.

    Advice to Management

No advice on the Con. It's a tough situation that employees just have to deal with each day. Higher raises would be helpful though.

Sometimes dealing with the public can be trying.

I'd say management is doing a good job.

    Pros

The best part of the job was flexible scheduling. I also learned a lot of new things while working with a diverse group of people.

    Cons

One of the major cons was pay. Pay was low for the position. I know each store is independently owned so it is possible other stores pay more.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees for the work that they do. I received very little in feedback and or praise. I felt undervalued in a store I spent a lot of time in.

    Pros

I started at the head cashier and was promoted to front end manager so with both titles I did have a fabulous set schedule which is rare in retail. I worked Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30.

    Cons

Keep in mind all ace hardware's are individually owned but the one I worked at in Alpharetta, GA was TERRIBLE. They start you out at minimum wage which is fine, it is a retail job but they expect way to much from you. They "promote" you and promise evaluations after 60 days which comes with a pay raise and when that 60 days comes around they lie and say they never promised anything and that a "title" should be enough for us !!

    Advice to Management

Follow through with what you promise. You can't lie to your staff and treat them poorly.
