    Pros

Work was always fun with a good group of co-workers. You have the opportunity to connect with the community and learn about hardware and common trades.

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage, which isn't unexpected for the industry, but the domain-specific knowledge that some excellent employees possess makes them worth much more than that.

    Advice to Management

Pay more for experience in relevant fields.

    Pros

It is a great place to work. Managers are understanding. It is a very busy work venue, never a dull moment

    Cons

There are quite a few times that the sales floor is under-staffed. The salaries could be somewhat higher than what they are now..

    Pros

Great People, great Store, Great Place to work. Open floor no boundaries, able to work all departments. Sales Associates friendly and knowledgeable.

    Cons

It is retail so the hours, some nights and weekends. The pay is too low. And raises are few and far between.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your people better.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Smart staff and group of retailers.

    Cons

It's a complex business model because it is not Ace corporate, it is a team that represents a group of regional retailers so everything is run by board of directors or committee and it can be disjointed.

    Advice to Management

A horse is a camel designed by a committee.

Pathetic, they gave my check to the wrong person and blame you for stuff they do wrong.

    Pros

Older costumers and fun lower end coworkers. I really cant think of anything else because of the negative atmosphere and stupidity

    Cons

They blame you for little mistakes and cuss and insult you while expecting you to work with 3 days off a month and during your shift they get mad when you stop to use the restroom. There is an awful amount of gossip due to this

    Advice to Management

Be professional and dont look and lower staff as animals

    Pros

Ace IS the place to work. Great local leadership in their distribution centers.

    Cons

The corporate bureaucracy is a bit much to handle. Self preservationists seem to rule. This company could really take off if they would just trust the people they have on board.

    Advice to Management

To Corporate leadership, I would say trust the brain power you have hired and trust less the traveling salesman that convinces you that their system or product or software will solve all of your problems. Take a look at the mind set of people you have entrusted to lead from Chicago.

  10. A very positive corporation but each store is different.

    Pros

Ace Hardware is an optimistic corporation. Always promoting positivity towards their customers, stores, and employees.
They have been very good at promoting and seem to be on a path to growth.

    Cons

Every store is different because Ace is a retailer-owned cooperative. This is only a downside because it's difficult to know what you may be getting into. The store I work for is great but I have heard good and bad stories about other stores.
