Great team culture, lacklustre communication.

Technician (Current Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Acrodex as a contractor for less than a year

Pros-great entry level and networking positions.
- good focus on small teams.
- decent pay and benefits (depending on position/ contract)
- friendly and helpful attitude with lower management.

Cons- pay is dependant on contract , but could be better.
- lack of clear direction sometimes, poor documentation or organization of duties.
- things tend to feel hap hazard at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementAcurratly detailing assignments and corresponding with employees is vital, and should be focused on much more. Periodic reviews and q/a sessions with employees would be a great boon to the company as a whole.

Get experience and get out

Licensing Specialist (Former Employee)
Calgary, AB (Canada)

I worked at Acrodex full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat way to get fast experience, all other future employers know Acrodex is a stepping stone. Get them to pay and reimburse your certification and then get out quickly.

ConsGet used to the worst technology, the cheapest managers, don't be surprised that if you show competence they will abuse it. The company is sales driven, be billable or be prepared to have your overtime exploited.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit being so cheap with your infrastructure. Allow employee's to work from home and inspire them with flexibility.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Fustrating, understaffed, underpaid, inconsistent policies.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Acrodex full-time

ProsStaff at Acrodex are very nice.

ConsPolicies change daily, understaffed, under paid, and overworked.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more staff for accounts that need the people.

Poor Management!

Technical Analyst I (Former Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I worked at Acrodex full-time for less than a year

ProsYou get paid to do nothing.
Paid training.
Good work life balance.
Company paid travelling.
A lot of free time.

ConsNo job security.
Poor management decisions.
Poor project coordination.
Quick layoffs.
Everyone is an I.T. major. Even jobs in accounting or HR dept requires you to be an I.T. major.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire some business professional as your project manager rather than having an I.T. major do that job!!!

Good Place to Get Experience But Just a Stepping Stone

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Acrodex full-time for more than a year

ProsCoworkers are really great
Get paid training once in a while

ConsLower than average salary
Hard to get significant raises
Raising issues with upper management doesn't usually do anything
Not a whole lot of places to advance to

Advice to Senior ManagementStart paying your employees what they're worth and offer nice yearly bonuses

Body shop

Team Lead (Current Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Acrodex full-time for more than 5 years

ProsUse it as a stepping stone to your next job
You can get training

ConsNo real leadership
Be billable or be gone
Owners only care about their reputation in the community
Good luck getting a raise or cost of living increase
Don't listen to employee recommendations
Dealing with the owners is frustrating
Training is only if they can bill you out for more money
You're never in the head office. You're always on a client site.
Senior people are hired and then leave because they get frustrated

Lack of Visionary leadership

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I worked at Acrodex full-time for more than 5 years

ProsCompany has some good people at the top. Good contracts, and a decent benefits package.

ConsA serious lack of progressive and open leadership. Many great people come and go due to the restrictive nature and short sighted view of the top brass. It is like getting asked to make a salad and then being told that you only have lettuce to work with. To grow and build, the soldiers need direction and support but also need flexibility and opportunity. That is not the Acro-way.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your teams, not just the members of the family. Trust the skills and leadership you hire to do the jobs that they could do if you would just let them do it. Know also that the numbers do not tell the whole story, they are but a single indicator. Epcor, Enbridge....many things lost due to the lack of open visionary thought.

Be prepared for churn

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Acrodex

ProsCorporate decisions can be made quickly
Good work/life balance
Management is open to listening to new ideas
They give back financially

ConsBe billable or be gone
Way behind on the adoption of technology in our own business
We are partners with everybody
The owners often disagree openly with each other when junior staff are around
A lot of what we do is based on how it will make the owners look to others

My current experience I would say is neutral..

Project Manager (Current Employee)
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Acrodex

ProsFlexibility is great in terms if you have a family emerge, good employee benefits that
comparable to other companies in the market

ConsPay structure is not up to industry
yearly reviews are not a regular thing around here along with salary reviews. Work recognition is poorly seen by management as well as compenstaion and also executives.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt would be nice to see more team collaboration with in the org itself. More of the social aspect and getting to know who is who in the zoo would help many other people. To see the involvment of the executive team would be nice, recognizing their employees and showing appreciation would be a plus.
