Pros
Corporate decisions can be made quickly
Good work/life balance
Management is open to listening to new ideas
They give back financially
Cons
Be billable or be gone
Way behind on the adoption of technology in our own business
We are partners with everybody
The owners often disagree openly with each other when junior staff are around
A lot of what we do is based on how it will make the owners look to others
Advice to Senior Management
Retire
Pros
Company has some good people at the top. Good contracts, and a decent benefits package.
Cons
A serious lack of progressive and open leadership. Many great people come and go due to the restrictive nature and short sighted view of the top brass. It is like getting asked to make a salad and then being told that you only have lettuce to work with. To grow and build, the soldiers need direction and support but also need flexibility and opportunity. That is not the Acro-way.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your teams, not just the members of the family. Trust the skills and leadership you hire to do the jobs that they could do if you would just let them do it. Know also that the numbers do not tell the whole story, they are but a single indicator. Epcor, Enbridge....many things lost due to the lack of open visionary thought.
Pros
Flexibility is great in terms if you have a family emerge, good employee benefits that
comparable to other companies in the market
Cons
Pay structure is not up to industry
yearly reviews are not a regular thing around here along with salary reviews. Work recognition is poorly seen by management as well as compenstaion and also executives.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be nice to see more team collaboration with in the org itself. More of the social aspect and getting to know who is who in the zoo would help many other people. To see the involvment of the executive team would be nice, recognizing their employees and showing appreciation would be a plus.
Pros
Head Office Environment is pretty good but could be a little more friendly.
Benefits are Ok but you pay for half of them.
Great Place for new people looking to get experience but with Acrodex Subcontracted to Half of Edmonton it is very difficult to get hired elsewhere.
Christmas Party is Fun.
Cons
Offsite / Contract work is Site dependant some sites are far better then others.
No reviews in 4+ Years for Many Employee's
No Cost of Living Increases or Raises of any Sort very often.
Management will take Expense money away if they feel the need to.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop treating the Company like a revolving door
Start developing Employee Loyalty with proper reviews, raises or some form of Perks.
Pros
NOTE: you do not normally work at the main office, you work at a contract site, so I was working in many areas of the city and enjoyed my day to day activities.
Good benefits, same as other large companies
Cons
I have only received 1 performance review and 1 raise.
Felt like a robot
Management did not approach me when there were courses available to take
No communication from management with regard to performance, or other contracts
Salaries were low
I only realized my true potential when I took a risk and applied for a position with another company that I felt sure that I wasn't qualified for, and was shocked when I got a second interview, sadly I realized that I felt incompetent due to my Acrodex experience
Advice to Senior Management
Take some managerial courses, or communication courses
Learn how to help to make your employees feel more valuable and help them to realize their potential
Pros
Encouragement to develop skills
Plenty of growth opportunity
Wide range of knowledge on many products and services
Cons
Underpaid salaries (10k to 25k less then their competition...but this is why then can underbid the competition)
Senior and Executive Management only talk to each other.
Many employees have a terrible team attitude and aren't willing to help others
HR and Payroll departments are incredibly incompetent
Advice to Senior Management
Review salaries and promote a team atmosphere. Acrodex is a springboard into the IT world. They have high turnover because people get in, learn a ton and then get out.
Pros
It is a good stepping stone. Learn, get your work experiences, and GO.
Cons
Wages are below market averages on the same position.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward or give recognitions to your well peformed employees, it will make everybody's life better knowing that management know how well a job one does.
