    Pros

Hard working colleagues, pretty good pay, lots of customers. Not much else to say.

    Cons

Products are buggy. Customers are unhappy. People leave all the time so it's hard to get things done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Step aside and let someone fresh lead the company. You've been at it for a while and it's not going anywhere.

Take a four years career break and learn nothing and get a job there.

I worked at Actiance full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Anybody who had left their jobs previously and took several months'/years' career break can surely get a job there cause otherwise anyone sane would not consider joining them.

Most of your seniors are not going to know much about JDK or how to design applications anyway, so it is better if you also know little. You won't be disappointed and you might even get awards.

You would get to see the worst coding and design practices that you gave up on 12 years back. Yet they claim the work is good ( they only manage the junk they ship so it appears good to their eyes ). For the developers that don't care about how they implement things, and how little they have learnt, it's a good place of work. But there is a lot of such work that you've got to do. So there is a lot of work. A lot of bad work. You are basically doing that crap work 24 * 7. But isn't that what a product company should be like.

Anything regardless of its complexity is required within a few hours or by the next day. You can't really blame their developers. The managers know that this is how things are. And they want it to work this way.

You get free tea and chips. That's all what a product company should have to offer after all.

Twice in a month you will not have to carry your box ( you have to carry it otherwise cause they don't have vendors selling lunch or snacks. You don't have tea or coffee bags either. ) cause you get free lunch twice in a month. Now that's an awesome thing. Who cares about you having to carry 11 AM food, lunch, 3 PM food, 5 PM food.

You will start admiring the public toilets that you have so far only loathed. They have the worst of what you have ever used or been to.

All their chairs are faulty. So be prepared to get a back pain or a body pain in a few days of joining.

Should you get a viral fever or flu, expect to get it repeatedly cause employees with horrible health condition also do not get sick leaves easily - their old employees are exempt from this regulation. They can take an off whenever they want for any number of days. So if you are not 3-4 years old in the company, you won't get leaves easily and your recovery will be extremely slow. So you will literally be consuming steroids and antibiotics to make it to work. Stress + poor health should be your gifts.

Parking is only for selected favorite employees.

The management has short sighted vision and their approach to any kind of problems is temporary and harmful quick fixes.

They like to claim that they pay well. Probably they like to compare themselves with Indian services companies that pay only slightly less than them. Any product company, any... that is, pays better than them.

    Cons

Refer to pros section. Mentioned everything there.

    I worked at Actiance

    Pros

Small company, hence there are no laid down procedures for everything, hence things can move faster at times, as people are reachable immediately.
Good work on latest technologies, but hugely lacking of core competencies for tech stack. Archaic ways of approaching a problem.
At par pay scale with similar scale, even better for the right people.
Management still lives in pre-independence era and and have no idea how a 2014 company should work like, so people joining from big brands of product companies would be slightly disappointed to see a service company set-up and thought culture.

    Cons

    Engineering and management:

The company suffers from the Infosyndrome ( Infosys Syndrome), old timers seating on top spots and really screwing the everything that can be. Incorrect decisions coupled with inordinate delays have made the products a poor performers in the highly competitive and dynamic market space that they are destined for, thus the company is struggling to make ends meet.

Lack of core competency for each tech stack, one person being asked to do DBA job along with programming sometimes which results in neither being perfectly done.

If you have a recommendation to improve product quality, no one listen hence one ends up in thinking "why should I care": Lot of emphasis is given on resource costing which results in poor technology decisions and finally neither is achieved when the super fragile product is shipped several months later from the planned date. Customers end up finally reporting the several issues, which is when it is taken seriously.

    Now the company:
If you find a nicey review about the company, probably the management has posted that as a counter post to the decreasing popularity and credibility.
The company infrastructure and facilities in Bangalore is no where close to any product company of any scale anywhere in the world. There is no operational management here, so expect a sleeper railway compartment like experience when traveling on Indian Railways. A broken tap or toilet seat or a chair may take months or a full financial year to get repaired. Hence the office and toilets are perfumed several times a day.
After a lead level(IC role), there is no scope for career growth. Hence forget promotion if joining at a lead level, the managers are going no where.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice as I believe by this time the management is experience enough to know why things are kept the way they are, and they may have a specific agenda in deliberately not having those improved. Best of luck to the company

I worked at Actiance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Have worked for 4 plus years and had the great time learning up new technologies. It’s a small fast growing product based company with good work culture. Each individual’s hard work is recognized and rewarded accordingly. Employees are very well paid. Managers are friendly and always open to discussions or any kind of suggestions.

Team management is good and team members are given responsibilities to take up new things and handle on their own. They are as well motivated when necessary.

Flexible work timings. Company is located within the city which helps reduce travel time for most of them.

Employees can have fun with well organized quarterly team outings and company outings, sports events..etc..

    Cons

Company facilities and infrastructure can be still improved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the same. Also, having frequent discussions with team members related to improvements/changes required in the team will definitely help in delivering an even more good quality product.

I worked at Actiance full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Exposure to great technologies
    2. Free food on wednesdays
    3. Team mates were very good personally and technically (atleast for me).
    4. They pay you well if you have something that is needed for them (obviously)

    Cons

    1. Highly political for a small environment
    2. Very immatured higher management..
    3. Employees will be treated badly-directly by some and subtly by some.
    4. Not much focused on employer-employee relationship.
    5. Highly incompetent HR team.
    6. Most importantly there is no car parking[except for managers] and a very narrow bike parking. If you are not an early comer, you will feel the pain of parking every day.
    7. Bad infrastructure, as the building looks like it was built sometime in BC. Broken toilets, unmaintained.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management is well aware of all these, as they have their own higher purpose to retain such disadvantages. So, I do not have any advices for them.

    Pros

Paychecks are on time, you get time off.

    Cons

It's all about the CEO, his company vision, his product vision, his selling vision ETC and that's not working out. Products may work at times but highly unstable and difficult to maintain. Over my year in the sales dept. we were an after-thought except at the end of each quarter when everyone seemed shocked we were not closing our deals. We never made our numbers but the company was told we did- accountability seems limited. . I think the ship sailed a long time ago from this company but the board keeps it chugging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clearly the CEO is the issue, change that and see what you have.

    Pros

They work on product development. If you are lucky you might get chance to work on new products.
This is an established company with proven revenue model. So your job is secure for at least a few years.
There are well defined policies and processes for everything.

    Cons

Higher management is a bit old fashioned and that reflects in the way they treat the employees.
    Work place is boring.
There is little flexibility with work timings and there is no option for tele commutation.
No car parking, no conveyance, no gym, no food catering.
If you are cool guy who take vacations and leave the office everyday by finishing your work early, you might be categorized as underperforming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees.
