    Great place to do good

Youth Services Specialist, SummerWorks (Former Employee) Boston, MA

ProsABCD does a lot of different things so there are many opportunities to join the team that most interests you. ABCD employees are fun to work with and care about what they do. Good place to help create meaningful and positive social impact in sustainable ways, to form valuable relationships and to feel a part of the Boston community. Also a good place to network.

ConsYou're working to make a positive difference for others in the community, not to bring home huge bucks. Also, though most employees are highly qualified and dedicated, some are more capable than others.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy relationships with upper management were always quite positive, engaging and down-to-earth. Keep it up.

Friendly work environment, no room for growth

    Assistant (Current Employee) Boston, MA

ProsABCD offeres incredible services and programs. Everyone truly cares about the causes and the clients they serve.

ConsUnfortunately the organization is poorly managed. Staff are not given the proper resources to succeed (e.g. working technology, number of staff members). Staff are not given a fair opportunity to voice their concerns are provide input. Also, there is no opportunities for growth within the organization and staff is not encouraged to grow or develop.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdd more transparency and include staff in decisions that directly affect their programs. Invest in young people. Many young people have great ideas and are passionate about the programs they work with however they are not reasonably compensated and have to leave in order to earn a decent wage.

Would like to see this agency really live up to its potential.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Boston, MA

ProsABCD, Inc. has the best benefits in the Human Service sector. Your skills do not have to match perfectly to be considered for most positions in the agency. The agency offers considerable professional development opportunities for early childhood teachers and teacher assistants. Employees are friendly and management is very approachable.

ConsThe agency is wasting money by guaranteeing yearly salary increases for everyone regardless of performance. Some supervisors could use more training in providing effective supervision. Consequences for poor performance appear to be non-existent in some departments. Opportunities for external applicants to be considered for management positions are very few.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease consider a tiered salary increase scale based on job performance. Management needs to have better expectations of all employees.
