Pros
Clients are very different, definitely a challenging place, perks are good (parties ect)
Cons
compensation is terrible, benefits are lacking, and inter-office communication is very poor
Advice to Senior Management
Give us more money!!!
Pros
Outside the fact that its located in the suburbs of Rockland County and in a nice office park - There truly are few pro's.
Cons
If you've worked in 'best-in class' organizations....As in major media, advertising or entertainment companies, or the fortune 500. Active is NOT for you. This is the most disorganized, poorly run company you will ever come across. The management is second rate - at best. The business model is complex and becoming less relevant, turn over is very high and the company is very un-focused. Once you ask around, you will very quickly begin to hear fairly unanimous feedback...And, mostly Not Good.
Advice to Senior Management
Frankly, management has been told, many times over, by both current and former employees, the place is a circus.
Pros
Great people on the media team
Cons
No opportunity for advancment
They Micromanage
Good for senors or people with no creativity or other skills
Canadian management is two faced
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your staff and get rid of the one woman that is ruining the Canadian office before it's too late
Pros
Great health benefits, great experience for starters, easy interview
Cons
Lacks city environment, slow to promote, pay is ok, better for parents with kids who need a place close to home to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the company more youth friendly. Integrate management and mid/lower level employees relationships to be more intertwined.
Pros
Good location in the NYC suburban area, nice office setting. They are some interesting clients. When you travel on company business, you stay at very nice hotels.
Cons
There are a lot of meetings that are meaningless and usually produce nothing. Communication does not flow between departments. When it is time to fill a higher level vacancy, internal promotions are not common and outsiders are usually hired at large salaries.
Advice to Senior Management
Company should emphasize career development of existing employees. Implementation of defined cross-training progams between departments is suggested. There are too many vps, svps, and evps who contribute little and draw huge salaries.
Pros
Active is in a great location. Just outside the city and not too far in the subarbs. It offers the opportunity to learn and very multi faceted approach to corporate financial solutions. It is commonly said that if you can work and survive at Active, you can work anywhere. The building offers many amenities such as a salon, quick shop, cafeteria, florist, travel agency and day care all on the premesis. There are frequent offers for employee sales, and discounts on many great items including travel, shows and other enternment vehicles. It is a privately owned company whos owners are on premesis every day.
Cons
There is little room for promotion and salary is not at all comporable with the same job descriptions located in the city. Many on the staff have been here 15+ years and are set in their ways which do not always benefit the company in these changing times. While striving to make this better, there is little to no communication between the different departments and that manks it hard to work together. Raises are minimal and bonuses are few and far between. The company often spends money in areas where the unnecessary rather than re-investing the funds into the workforce.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be to seriously review the task assigned to each member of the staff and their productivity associated with it. Take notice of the employees that always go above and beyond and reward them for it. A big help would be to cut the dead weight. There are many employees earning tremendous salaries that do not equal with their efforts. We have an entire Corp Dev department that is bleeding money left and right and have no profits to show for it and it affects morale in the company. Review titles in the various departments and make them closer related to industry standards.
