Pros
Nice office building in San Mateo. Leader in email marketing. Employees are smart, good people to work with.
Cons
Work hard for little recongnition. There's too much of an Asian brotherhood, needs to be more diverse and I'm Asian.
Advice to Senior Management
Upgrade the legacy technology. Acknowledge your hardworking staff. Figure out a way to have account teams to collaborate more.
Pros
Although some people are dissatisfied with the health benefits, compared to the previous company I worked for, the Acxiom medical & dental benefits can be considered average for a company in this field. If you are single and are looking for benefits that will cover preventative care, the benefits will work well. The people I work with are great and the free sodas, bagels and fruits are good too.
Cons
Not too many career growth opportunities. Employee retention rate is horrible. Pay cuts, pay freeze with no end in sight and no communication about it from higher ups.
Advice to Senior Management
Although money is not the most important factor in a job, there comes a point where people will need a salary that will allow them to be able to keep up with the cost of living and the associates will eventually need their salary increases. At the very least, please communicate as to when this will happen. Please realize that this is one of the main reasons if not the main reason why Acxiom has become a revolving door for associates.
Pros
Relaxed atmosphere to work in. You can dress casual & listen to music while you work. The people you work directly with are amazing. The supervisors you report directly to, care about you & try to help you anyway they can. If it's your first job out of college, then it's decent.
Cons
The pay is lower than its competitors. Not that much in reimbursement towards furthering your education. The higher ups in the company, CEOs, seem out of touch with the workers. good place to start, but move on if you get a great opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management
In stand of worrying about expanding, try focusing on retaining good workers.
Pros
Free breakfast/fruit. Some people you work with are really good to work with. Work on email campaigns for large companies with good brand recognition. I was able to leave and almost double my salary based on this. You can do it too.
Cons
Long hours, extremely low pay, management does not care about employee churn rate, promotions don't happen as they should, upper management gets bonuses based on account performance and based off of the work of those under them...while raises are non existant and base salaries get lowered. Incompetence and general disregard by upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Replace yourselves unless you can lead with integrity. Spread the wealth.
Pros
Great benefits. Good amount of PTO. Somewhat flexible in working from home (though some people take advantage of it and ruin it for everyone).
Cons
An unbelievable amount of nepotism. It's all about who you know, not what you know. There are people that are "lifers" here, and it's very hard to break into their "inner circle".
Advice to Senior Management
Provide adequate and ongoing training to your people managers. Try to have more open communication from the top down, not just to a select few.
Pros
Comfortable working environment, smart people, pay rates are usually good. Depending on what career track you want, you can pick up valuable skills here. Overall, a good place to work for a year or two to gain some key experience, and maybe move on to somewhere you can be heard a little more. However, if you like the role and the path you're traveling, could be a good place to stay.
Cons
Acxiom is sort of self-obsessed in that promotion, especially at lower levels, seems to be on how long you've been at Acxiom, not how long or strong your experience is at your type of role. It's almost as if the better you kow their proprietary software, that better you're situated for advancement (in applicable job roles). Also, they might tell you there's a lot of mobility within the company...not my experience.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a stronger look at people as individuals with skills and experience to offer multiple parts of the business. The company tends to treat you like a human on an emotional level and a number on an employment level.
Pros
1. For entry-level positions, pay and benefits package is decent.
2. Generous in terms of paid vacation/sick days.
3. Exposure to high-profile clients.
4. Relaxed dress code.
5. Relaxed office environment in general.
6. Pleasant co-workers (for the most part).
7. Free Bagels on Wednesdays.
8. Free soda, milk, cereal, oatmeal, licorice, and pretzels (a certain warehouse club chain is across the street).
9. Building is within walking distance of many places to eat.
10. Neighborhood/location is very nice.
Cons
1. High turnover rates.
2. Can be extremely stressful at times.
3. Long hours for some.
4. Pay does not increase (i.e., entry-level wages even after you've been promoted).
5. Can be difficult to take vacation if you work on a demanding/complex account.
6. Difficult to move up.
7. Opportunity to learn new skills extremely limited.
8. Inefficient and unsightly platform.
9. No clear vision of where the company is heading.
10. Lack of maturity in some departments.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on employee retention! At the very least, try to show some concern over high turnover rates (the "there's more where that came from" vibe in the air when someone leaves doesn't really help with morale). Ask yourselves, why are the talented leaving to go work someplace else? Think about professional sports teams that win championships and how they treat their stars and foster good team chemistry. How can you expect to win when the makeup of your team is in a constant state of flux?

The people in my office are great to work with.
Cons
However, recent decisions by upper management have left me unhappy as entire teams have been laid off after we were told that there would be no layoffs. There are not may opportunities available and it is easy to get 'stuck' ... in rank and in pay. Pay is frozen, 401K's aren't funded, and all employees are underpaid.
Advice to Senior Management
Please increase compensation. Retaining those who earn less and laying off those who earn more isn't fair either. Stop talking about "Rock Stars" when employees are unhappy, and actual be honest.
Pros
The people, the management, the hot essence of the core business segment. Getting knowledge that helps you do you job here will pay off in the long run in various other places and positions. It's a fun place to work - and whilst the hours can be demanding, and the technology daunting at times, it's a great place to go to work every day.
Cons
Long hours, frustrated co-workers, general client craziness.

Communicate with complete transparency. Raise pay.

Access to amazing off line data and a vision of how to meld to on line use
Cons
Off line old school Acxiom versus acquired companies working in the on line space often clash for customer facing roles and revenue. Turf wars as to how to best access customers and leverage them across the various marketing channels. The culture of "direct mail" and "list rentals" was slow to evolve into an online vision.
Advice to Senior Management
Pick a segment and own it, do not try to be all things digital to all your customers, they don't buy that vision.
