Pros-Great industry. lots of opportunity for growth and I get to keep learning and stay challenged as the online ads space keeps evolving
-Great people. Lots of smart, driven people who want to work for a successful company.
-Great culture. really fun events, get togethers, knowledge sharing sessions, parties.
-Compelling work. The company is in growth mode, so it's been really fun to see it expand and the company getting a lot of wins in the industry

ConsGrowing Pains -The maturity level needs to catch up a bit. This isn't a knock on Adconion as much as I think this is the same with a lot of places. The company is trying to catch up to it's growth. It can be challenging at times dealing with jr. level managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep learning and growing. Recognize there's a lot of potential with the company as more Senior Mgmt gets added. The direction is great, helping learn about more execution will make us unstoppable.

Pros*The office culture... it's fun to come to work
*The international flavor... we are a truly diverse company
*The opportunities! When you work hard and do well, you are recognized. Annually, some are rewarded with trips to any international offices!
*North America's COO

Cons*With our rapid growth, it is easy to overlook some employee fundamentals; that needs to be addressed soon or we won't be prepared for more employees

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement seems to move in different directions when we really need them to be a more cohesive unit. While we all have distinct priorities, they must all fit the larger goals.

Current Employee – been working at Adconion

Pros- Flexible working schedule
- Location freedom, telecommuting
- Fun people, energy in the workspace
- Lots of events, training opportunities
- No drama during software releases: small steady steps.

Cons- Not a technology innovator. Using latest technology for web apps and web services though.
- Sometimes projects become mundane
- Some things take time to get done due to lack of organization

Advice to Senior ManagementSo far the management decisions have paid off. Adconion has grown very big in very little time. At the same time this fast growth has caused stress points across departments because there is not enough time to reorganize and put processes in place. My advice is to start to look into some 6-sigma strategies to get the company more process-oriented.

Santa Monica, CA

Former Employee – worked at Adconion

Pros- Start up environment
- Free food on Wednesdays
- Nice office space, but new office space location is horrible

Cons- NO Promotions
- NO Salary increases
- The company has no real HR leader
- No development
- No real leadership (very confusing)

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company needs to evaluate its leadership and management. The leaders spend more time playing and traveling together (as friends) than in managing the company and hiring strong people.

ProsSmart people.
Great environment with high energy and passion in all things.
Work hard play hard mentality.
Cutting edge office with everything you can ever need.

ConsI think the only thing I can I say is that there should be more cohesiveness encouraged between tech/product and media/sales. For the most part the two sides of the office are split by an iron curtain. Seems like the norm for most companies, but it would help for both to make concerted efforts.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep making huge strides to make Adconion the number one media company in the world. I think they are doing well, but need to react fast when it comes to the next big thing.

ProsLots of company social events
Flexible working hours
Lots of time to explore cool new technologies

ConsDistributed nature of the teams makes it hard to get things done
Engineering vs Sales & Marketing operate in silos with high communication barriers
Some managers struggle to understand technology despite being tasked with making technology related decisions.
Lack of a clear technological road map for how to move things forward

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in a better system / technology for handling inter-office communication.
More emphasis should be placed on actually building the stuff you're selling so successfully.
Hire more mid level managers who have at least some technical knowledge.

ProsSmart employees (mostly), food/party perks almost weekly, global company, decent technology, good health benefits.

ConsNo HR, senior management are self absorbed and rarely deal with "underlings" despite it being a small company, company is cheap with promotions, new equipment and raises, there are some under qualified people in high positions and it can drag down your work

Advice to Senior ManagementGet our of your office, mentor and teach others

ProsThere are lots of projects in the pipeline so a lot of things need to be done. There is a good opportunity to work on interesting problems as the company expands.

ConsThere is a lot of politics involved for such a small company. A lot of incapable people are hired to be in positions that they shouldn't be in and they are ruining the potential of the company. There is a lot of arguing between teams and nothing ever gets accomplished because people are just focused on positioning themselves not to be blamed as opposed to doing quality work.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to their employees and their feedback. Use it to determine who isn't contributing and get rid of them.
